BASA INDOOR SOCCER RULES Standard Rules for all Recreational Age groups U9-HS BASA SOCCER AT THE CANLAN Sportsplex 1. U9 and U11 Boys Field Size will be 38 yards in length and 35 yards in width 2. U11 girls-HS Field Size will be 63 yards in length and 38 yards in width 3. U9-U11 size 4 soccer ball, U14-HS size 5 ball 4. Goal size will be 6’ high by 18.5’ wide 5. U9 boys and girls will play 5v5, one player must be a goalie (4 plus GK) 6. U11 boys will play 4v4, one player must be a goalie (3 plus GK) due to low enrollment 7. U11 Girls will play 8v8, U14 age group and HS girls will play 7v7 one player must be a goalie. Minimum # of players is 5. 8. HS Boys will play 6v6, one player must be a goalie. Minimum # of players is 4 9. All U14 and HS games will be 40 Minute running clock. It is extremely important that the games are on time, and players leave in a timely manner immediately after each game REFEREES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR HELPING KEEP THE FIELDS AND GAMES ON TIME AND MOVING. 10. U9 and U11 will play 2 x20 minute halves. 10. Substitutions will be on the fly for all age groups. Please make sure the player who is leaving the field is completely off before the new player enters the playing area. 11. U9 and U11 boys DEVELOPMENTAL GUIDELINES a. ON ALL GOAL KICKS AND WHEN THE GOAL KEEPER MAKES A SAVE (goal keeper has possession) the team without the ball MUST DROP BACK TO THE HALF LINE. This will allow the team in possession a free pass to their team. Once the ball is touched by the team with possession of the ball the game is live again! b. If a player on the opposing team enters the developmental area too early (prior to a player touching the ball) an indirect free kick will be awarded to the team in possession. *Note if the GK makes a save and quickly plays the ball out you do not need to worry about the opponents dropping but if the gk makes a save and takes his or her time to distribute the ball the referees should encourage the opponents to drop behind the half line to allow the play to build up. *Coaches should be using the word DROP as soon as your team loses possession to the goal keeper or the ball goes out for a goal kick c. U9 GOALIES and U11 boys cannot punt the ball. They must look put it down to their feet and pass or throw to a teammate within their defensive half. They can look to pass long also but no punts or drop kicks are permitted.

U14-High School goalies MUST throw the ball or put down to their feet and pass short or long… NO PUNTING or DROPKICKS AT THIS LEVEL **U11 girls can throw, put down to their feet or do drop kicks but punting is NOT ALLOWED a. If GK punts/drop kicks please give a warning first. Second time is indirect free kick for the opponent outside the box. 13. All balls that go out of bounds on the sidelines will be throw-ins. 14. There will be no offside at U9 or U11 boys. 15. U11 girls-HS Offside will be called if a player is standing inside the opposing team’s goal area without a defender even or behind them (NO CHERRY PICKING) 16. No slide tackling! 17. If the ball hits the ceiling it is in an indirect kick at the spot it hit on the ceiling. 18. Each player should play at least %50 of playing time. (During indoor players should be subbing every 3 or 4 minutes) 19. Both teams will stand on same side of field. Parents will view from track above. NO PARENTS ARE ALLOWED ON THE TURF, coaches and players only. (Coaches will meet their team in a specific team room prior to each game, and will be responsible for walking all players onto the field prior to kickoff and walking all players upstairs back to their parents after the game). PLAYERS AND COACHES MUST ENTER AND LEAVE THE FIELD AT THE MAIN ENTRANCE ONLY!!!!! 20. All referees should keep score and time on their own and if possible we will have scoreboards! *****Please inform players that they should only go downstairs wearing their uniform and with a water bottle. All other personal items should be left at home or with parents upstairs. ***** All other BASA outdoor rules will be in affect for Indoor. BASA will not tolerate unsportsmanlike behavior and the referee has the final say. Please respect the game, the coaches, the referees, and your opponents. NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR BEVERAGES ARE ALLOWED IN Canlan, water ONLY. Players need to be dressed in full BASA uniform, jersey (ALL INDOOR TEAMS WILL RECEIVE AN INDOOR JERSEY THAT MUST BE WORN EACH WEEK), black socks and shorts. All players can wear their outdoor CLEATS, sneakers or indoor shoes.
