Southtown-Westown Minors Baseball Rules
Official baseball rules apply with the following exceptions:
1.
Pitchers are allowed to pitch two (2) consecutive innings per game. If a pitcher is removed from the mound, he may not be re-inserted as a pitcher. One (1) pitch constitutes an inning.
2.
Players must play three (3) defensive innings.
3.
Bat full roster. If injury or illness forces a player to miss a turn at bat, the batting order would not change. Substitute base runner shall be the previous batter last out.
4.
Base Stealing Rules: a) Base runners may not leave an occupied base until the pitched ball passes home plate or is hit. b) Base runner occupying 3rd base may not advance to home plate (i.e. score a run) on passed balls until games starting the week of May 14, 2012.
5.
A player coaching bases must wear a batting helmet.
6.
No intentional walks are allowed.
7.
Forced curved ball will be illegal. The penalty will be an illegal pitch.
8.
No running on dropped third strike.
9.
Game time is 6:00 PM. No inning shall start after 2-hour time limit. No inning shall start after 8:00 P.M. when there is school the next day.
10. Teams will play until game is completed or until Umpire calls the game for darkness or weather. 11. Any official game ending in a tie will be scored at ½ win ½ loss. Four and one-half innings constitute an official game. 12. Teams can play with 10 on the field with 4 outfielders. 13. Teams can play a game without forfeit when not enough players. Opposing team will help fill need positions. 14. No mercy rules are in effect after 4 ½ innings; play the game out. (Coaches show mercy) 15. Six run mercy rule per inning. 16. Players may re-enter a game at any time. Unlimited substitution with the exception of pitchers. 17. There will be no infield fly rule called during the regular season. 18. Home team is responsible for both a home plate and field umpire. An ADULT from the Home team (third base dugout) will be in charge of the Electronic Scoreboards
