MEASUREMENTS To fit chest measurement: 6 (12-18-24) mos: 17 (18-19-21)" [43 (45.5-48-53.5) cm] Finished chest: 21 (22-23½-25)" [53.5 (56-59.5-63.5) cm] GAUGE 19 sts and 24 rows = 4" [10 cm] with larger needles in stocking stitch.
Instructions The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ). Back **With smaller needles, cast on 46 (47-5153) sts. Knit 3 rows, noting 1st row is WS and inc 2 (3-3-3) sts evenly across last row. 48 (5054-56) sts. Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st** until Back measures 10 (11½12½-13¾)" [25.5 (29-32-35) cm], ending with a purl row. Shoulders: Cast off 16 sts beg next 2 rows. Leave rem 16 (18-22-24) sts on a st holder. Front Work from ** to ** as for Back until Front measures 5½ (6½-7-7¾)" [14 (16.5-1819.5) cm], ending with a purl row.

Divide for front opening: Next row: (RS). K24 (25-27-28). Turn. Leave rem sts on a spare needle. Next row: K2. Purl to end of row. Next row: Knit. Leave rem sts on a safety pin. Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 3 rows, then every RS row 3 times more. 16 sts. Work even until Front measures same length as Back to shoulder. Cast off.
With RS facing, join yarn to rem sts on spare needle. Work as given for Left front, reversing all shapings. Sleeves With smaller needles, cast on 28 (28-3034) sts. Knit 3 rows, noting 1st row is WS and inc 2 sts evenly across last row. 30 (30-32-36) sts. Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st, inc 1 st each end on next and every following 6th (8th-10th-10th) row to 40 (40-42-44) sts. Cont even until Sleeve measures 5½ (6-7½-8)" [14 (15-19-20.5) cm], ending with a purl row. Cast off. FINISHING Sew shoulder seams. Place markers 4 (44¼-4½)" [10 (10-11-11.5) cm] down from shoulders on Front and Back. Sew in sleeves between markers. Sew side and sleeve seams. Neckband: With RS facing and smaller needles, K2 (3-5-6) from right front st holder. Pick up and knit 13 (13-11-13) sts up right front neck edge. K16 (18-22-24) from back st holder, inc 1 (0-1-1) st(s) at center. Pick up and knit 13 (13-11-13) sts down left front neck edge. K2 (3-5-6) from left front st holder. 47 (50-55-63) sts. Knit 2 rows. Cast off knitwise (WS).
