Toddler 10 Commandments

Seeking Satisfaction vv.10-11

Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. Mark 6.31-32

Recognizing Dissatisfaction vv.12-13

When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?”. Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!” Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” John 6.5, 7-9

Symptoms of Dissatisfaction Late in the afternoon (time) Send the crowd away (size of problem) In a remote place (location) Only 5 loaves and 2 fish (resources Unless we go buy food (inadequate solution)

Becoming Satisfied vv.14-17

False satisfaction “They intended to come make him a king by force.” John 6.15

Temporary satisfaction Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill.” John 6.26

Becoming Satisfied Means the question “Am I satisfied?” is changed to “Is God satisfied?”

Becoming Satisfied in God means: Our perspective is transformed Our view of fulfillment is transformed Our sense of provision is transformed Our understanding of satisfaction is transformed

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4.11-13
