STEP 1: SOURCING A BIG BOX PLACES TO SOURCE BIG BOXES It’s always better to reuse old boxes than to buy new ones. Just make sure they are whole and dry with no serious imperfections which could cause the box to split in transit. Here are some places you can find old boxes; supermarkets, independent retailers, news agents, convenience stores, offices, electrical retailers and garden centres. STORES & SUPERMARKETS If you are sending regular shipments, it might be a good idea to ensure you have a regular supply of large boxes by asking various stores if they would save them for you. ASK FRIENDS A lot of people shop online and most of the time their goods come in suitable strong cardboard boxes. So ask friends if they have any spare boxes you could use. WORKPLACE If you work at an office it is most likely that you have regular shipments of office supplies. These boxes are excellent to use and you could make a request for those to be saved for you. LOCAL COMPANIES/OFFICES You could also ask a local company or office to save and supply you with boxes.
TIP:
If you can´t find large enough boxes for you shipment, you can always tape two or several smaller boxes together and send them as ONE shipment (see how in step 3).
STEP 2: PACKING THE BOX TIPS OF HOW TO PACK EFFICIENTLY FOR SPECIFIC RECYCLING PROGRAMMES. ELLACYCLE Make sure there’s no food residue left and then flatten the pouch. You can leave the cap on. MCVITIE'S® BISCUIT WRAPPER RECYCLING PROGRAMME Flatten the biscuit wrappers and fold them or use an elastic band to keep them in place. WRITING INSTRUMENTS RECYCLING PROGRAMME Try and stack all the pens in the same direction to fit more in the box. AIR AND HOME CARE RECYCLING PROGRAMME Try to stack all the triggerheads neatly, and bag up caps and air freshener cartridges. Fold flexible packaging. TASSIMO® & L’OR® RECYCLING PROGRAMME Flatten the foil packages and place them in the bottom and the T-DISCS and L’OR capsules on top. No need to remove the coffee – we compost it. CIGARETTE WASTE RECYCLING PROGRAMME Make sure that all waste is safely extinguished before placing it in a bag. PERSONAL CARE AND BEAUTY PROGRAMME Please try to fold flexible packagining.
STEP 3: TAPE THE BOX SECURELY TAPE THE BOX When all the waste is packed within the box, tape the box together securely and neatly, ensuring all loose items and flaps are fully secured.
TAPE TWO OR MORE BOXES TOGETHER If you can´t find big enough boxes, you can tape two or more boxes together to make one big shipment. • Any boxes that are taped together must be the SAME size and the SAME recycling programme waste. Each shipment should have ONE label. • Make sure to tape them securely together.
STEP 4: SEND YOUR SHIPMENT UPS • Print your label and attach it securely onto the shipment using an address label or tape. • Arrange a pickup by calling: 03 457 877 877 and a UPS driver will pickup your box at a pre-agreed time. • Or visit https://www.ups.com/dropoff?loc=en_GB to find your nearest UPS drop off location.
