Paul Slater is one of the five seniors to be honored during today’s between-game Senior Day festivities. He’s got a career .311 batting average and 84 runs scored as an Eagle. He’s got a career-best .438 OBP this year.
t was a very strange series between these two squads earlier this season. First, it was played here at Eagles Diamond with Biola as the visiting team, technically. Second, there was a 12-0 no-hitter by the Hawks, and third, Biola was favored and dropped two of the three games. This time around Biola is again the favored team, with a fourgame lead on the Hawks in the Golden State Athletic Conference. The Eagles are the true home team in this series and since it is their final home weekend series of the season they will host Senior Day on Saturday afternoon, honoring five players, and giving the team added motivation to play well. No motivation is truly needed as Biola finds itself in the midst of its second very successful stretch of the 2015 season, winning four of its last five games entering play
today. Coincedentally, this stretch happens to coincide with the part of the schedule that features the three teams under the Eagles in the GSAC standings. It also features three games with the CSU San Marcos Cougars. Biola improved to 2-0 against the Cougars this season with a 16-10 victory on the road on Tuesday. They meet again four two this upcoming Wednesday with Biola looking for more of that stellar offense. Offense has been key over this latest winning streak, with Biola outscoring its opponents 54-26 over the last five outings. That average of 10.1 runs-per-game is nearly double the Eagles’ season average of 5.3 and 2.5 times the Hawks’ average of 4.0 runsper-game. It will be important for Biola to continue capitalizing on opportunities to score in this

series as SDC has committed the second-most errors in the league this season (92) and Biola’s next, and final, conference opponent, William Jessup, leads the GSAC in errors with 106. The highlight of a very disappointing season for San Diego Christian thus far came the last time they were here in La Mirada in the form of that no-hitter, the first in program history. Gio Ochoa (#21) threw the complete game no-hitter, while allowing eight base runners via the walk. His lineup backed him up with 12 runs to start the series on a high note. Ochoa’s been up-and-down throguh the rest of the season as the Hawks’ go-to pitcher. He’s got a 4.50 ERA in 70 innings on the bump, posting a 2-5 overall record. Justin Distefano (#22) is their best hitter, working a .316 batting average and three homeruns.

Paul Slater is one of the five seniors to be honored during today’s between-game Senior Day festivities. He’s got a career .311 batting average and 84 runs scored as an Eagle. He’s got a career-best .438 OBP this year.
t was a very strange series between these two squads earlier this season. First, it was played here at Eagles Diamond with Biola as the visiting team, technically. Second, there was a 12-0 no-hitter by the Hawks, and third, Biola was favored and dropped two of the three games. This time around Biola is again the favored team, with a fourgame lead on the Hawks in the Golden State Athletic Conference. The Eagles are the true home team in this series and since it is their final home weekend series of the season they will host Senior Day on Saturday afternoon, honoring five players, and giving the team added motivation to play well. No motivation is truly needed as Biola finds itself in the midst of its second very successful stretch of the 2015 season, winning four of its last five games entering play
today. Coincedentally, this stretch happens to coincide with the part of the schedule that features the three teams under the Eagles in the GSAC standings. It also features three games with the CSU San Marcos Cougars. Biola improved to 2-0 against the Cougars this season with a 16-10 victory on the road on Tuesday. They meet again four two this upcoming Wednesday with Biola looking for more of that stellar offense. Offense has been key over this latest winning streak, with Biola outscoring its opponents 54-26 over the last five outings. That average of 10.1 runs-per-game is nearly double the Eagles’ season average of 5.3 and 2.5 times the Hawks’ average of 4.0 runsper-game. It will be important for Biola to continue capitalizing on opportunities to score in this

series as SDC has committed the second-most errors in the league this season (92) and Biola’s next, and final, conference opponent, William Jessup, leads the GSAC in errors with 106. The highlight of a very disappointing season for San Diego Christian thus far came the last time they were here in La Mirada in the form of that no-hitter, the first in program history. Gio Ochoa (#21) threw the complete game no-hitter, while allowing eight base runners via the walk. His lineup backed him up with 12 runs to start the series on a high note. Ochoa’s been up-and-down throguh the rest of the season as the Hawks’ go-to pitcher. He’s got a 4.50 ERA in 70 innings on the bump, posting a 2-5 overall record. Justin Distefano (#22) is their best hitter, working a .316 batting average and three homeruns.
