BLACK SAILS The adventure series, Black Sails, takes place in 1715 in the Caribbean at a time when pirates have been declared enemies of all civilization. The ruthless Captain Flint (Toby Stevens), feared amongst pirates, is facing threats on all sides. New Providence Island, a former British colony, has now become a notorious haven for pirates, prostitutes and criminals. Richard and Eleanor Guthrie (Sean Cameron Mitchell and Hannah New), run a smuggling operation on the island, turning the pirate’s ill-gotten gains into profits. Captain Flint is so obsessed with finding gold-laden galleon, the Urca de Lima, he almost drives his crew to mutiny. He has the tough talking Eleanor, his quartermaster Mr Gates (Mark Ryan) and Billy Bones (Tom Hoppe), his boatswain, on his side and manages to keep the loyalty of his crew. Arrayed against him are various opponents, including Richard Guthrie (Eleanor’s father) and rival captain, Vane (Zach McGowen) with his right hand, Rockham (Toby Schmitz). Vane and Eleanor have a sexual history but now she is with Max, a savvy prostitute (Jessica Parker Kennedy). Smooth talker, John Silver (Luke Arnold) a new member of Flint’s crew, is hiding an important secret. He uses it to undermine his captain’s agenda at every turn.
