2017 Blended Line Grant

ROG Tennis is a key component for the progression of players under the age of 12. Utilizing age appropriate balls, racquets, and court sizes, the ROG play format allows the child to experience quick success and develop key fundamental skills. Painting permanent ROG lines at your facility is the next step in creating permanency for the format that will change the face of youth tennis in America. USTA Northern California is devoted to promoting and developing the growth of ROG tennis. Let us assist your local community in accomplishing this shared goal. Purpose Funding provided by USTA National and the USTA Northern California section with the cost of painting ROG Tennis lines on either existing 78 ft. courts or a blacktop. Application Deadline Applications will be accepted through November 30, 2017, or until funds are no longer available. Any submissions after this date will not be considered. Requirements       

Each facility must line a minimum of four (4) 36 ft. courts and/or two (2) 60 ft. courts or a combination of both. All lines must be painted by December 31, 2017. Failure to complete the project and submit the necessary documentation by this date will result in a loss of funds. Each facility must sign a letter pledging to continue ROG Tennis format for a minimum of three (3) years to be eligible for future USTA Northern California grant funding All players participating in ROG Tennis programs are required to be USTA Members Each facility with ROG Tennis programs must be registered on the youthtennis.com website If applicant is applying for 60ft. courts, then the facility must apply to host an Orange Level Sanctioned tournament in 2017 or by January 31, 2018. If applying for 36ft. courts only then applicant is required to host two Play Days by December 31, 2017.

Grant   

In conjunction with USTA National, USTA Northern California will cover the cost of painting modified court lines at a facility up to a maximum $350 per court. For each 36ft court painted an 18ft net will be provided for up to four (4) courts For each 60ft court painted a case of balls, four rackets, and medals will be provided for the tournament

Assistance with the tournament sanction process and optional training for the tournament director Assistance with Play Day registration and optional training for the organizer Applicant may host an ROG Workshop held by a certified ROG trainer, and all staff facilitating ROG tennis programming may attend

Application Process 

1. Complete a USTA Facility Assistance Form (http://ct.usta.com/pfa) for each facility 2. Upon National notification that your submission has been filed, the USTA Northern California ROG Development Coordinator will contact you and look to gather the following required information pertaining to your project: a. For existing 78 ft. courts: i. 3-4 digital photos of the court conditions. ii. A copy of a contractor’s estimate for painting the lines. iii. Sketch of the facility’s court layout. The following dimensions must be shown: 1. Court sideline to fence 2. Baseline to fence 3. Distance between court sidelines 4. Indication of any light poles or other structures and that distance from court iv. Completed IRS W9 form. v. Signed copy of the commitment letter vi. Completed USTA Northern California ROG line grant application b. For Blacktop: i. 3-4 digital photos of the blacktop conditions ii. A copy of a contractor’s estimate for painting the lines on a blacktop iii. Sketch of the proposed blacktop area (including dimensions) iv. Completed IRS W9 form. v. Signed copy of the commitment letter vi. Completed USTA Northern California ROG line grant application

3. If the facility is approved, the applicant will receive a congratulatory email containing instructions for the contractor, court configuration recommendations, and details involving payment. 4. Funding for approved projects will only be held until December 31, 2017. Failure to complete the project and submit the necessary documentation by this date will result in a loss of funds. Reimbursement Court Cost After the project has been completed; 3-4 digital photos and a copy of the final contractor’s invoice must be sent to your ROG Development Coordinator. With this information, USTA National and USTA Northern California will reimburse the local facility for the amount of the grant. Equipment After the project has been completed and the photos, final invoice, and sanction application have been submitted, the equipment will be purchased and sent to the applicant
