BLUE DEVILS JUNIOR FOOTBALL The Columbia Football Family is looking to expand and add youth football (junior blue devils) at the 5th and 6th grade level in 2014. Other local communities in the area have already started this program and are participating in youth football with great success. We are trying to offer opportunities to play football and learn more about the game year round. We invite you to join us for the 2014 year having a great time playing football and being part of the Columbia Blue Devils Football family. We are trying to build a program on the beliefs that every child should be able to participate and that fundamentals will be properly taught to children and coaches by the high school staff. We are trying to establish a program that will encourage children to be more involved in football and supported by the community. Our focus in the format of our league and program is to have a later starting date and allow children to play more, while opening our arms to all children that would like to participate. The great thing about this program is that it is our program. We do not have to answer to any other association. If we want to see something changed or added, we can make the decision as a program and league. This fall we will be beginning our 1st season of Columbia Blue Devil Junior Football. We feel it is a must to offer the best brand of junior football and we have taken every avenue to make sure that happens. We have purchased brand new state of the art equipment for our children, to ensure their safety and enjoyment of the sport. Our games will be played right on the Columbia Football Turf Field. Practices will start when high school practices start. Playing on the turf field the kids will get to experience what the varsity players feel on Friday nights under the lights. Our youth coaches are coached by professional educators. Columbia High School football coaches will be directing the youth coaches in our junior football program, and will support the junior blue devil coaches and players with day to day planning of practices, skills, drills, techniques and any other support needed. We want to continue to promote the game of football within our community and the Columbia School District. Football is a great game that can teach many life lessons that children can benefit from. Our goal is to keep children actively engaged in the sport of football. The Columbia Junior Blue Devils Football program will give many children in the district a chance to be a part of a program that may not have otherwise had an opportunity.
