eeping the Brahma tradition was only one accomplishment of many from this season. From twoa-days to late November, the team fought a hard and rewarding season, finishing as undefeated district champions, bi-district champions and area champions. Overall, the Brahmas had a successful season with an 11-2 overall season record. In the first round of playoffs, the varsity team shut out Rogers with a score of 390. In the second round, they accomplished another shutout against Nixon-Smiley with a score of 61-0. Despite these two wins, they fell just short to the Lexington Eagles, 35-38. “I’m very pleased with how we did throughout the

whole season, considering that only a few players had varsity experience and we lost 27 seniors from the previous year,” senior Braden Janecek said. “It took a group effort from everyone including the coaches to get us ready for varsity football and to make this season the most memorable one yet.” Since the majority of the team were seniors last year, it would be a “rebuilding” year for the varsity team full of practice and dedication. However, the Brahmas pulled through with an excellent season and a district title. “One of my favorite memories from this season definitely has to be the feeling after the Boling game,” senior Trey Schmidt said. “We did what no one except the coaches and ourselves

knew we could do and beat Boling to win our undefeated district championship.” For many of the players, the end of football season is the beginning to a completely different lifestyle and routine. Brahma football is more of a family than a team to the varsity players. “I’m going to miss playing with the graduating seniors,” junior Logan Baird said. “They are my brothers and playing football just won’t be the same without out them, but I’m looking forward to playing my last year of high

school football with my best friends.” The many hours of practice and games taught the players about character just as much as football. Though the seniors’ season is over, what they take from Brahma football will last forever. “I have learned never to quit and to perform my hardest at everything I do,” Janecek said. “Being an East Bernard Brahma taught me so many things that will make me the best person I can be and achieve anything in life.”
