Breath Prayer Center Instructions
This is a simple method to keep connected to God.
In the business of our lives, we often find it difficult to find time to pray. Does that happen in you life?
Breath Prayer comes from the Hebrew ruah, which means wind, breath and spirit. Breath prayers sharpen our awareness of living in the breath of God. Breath prayers can only take one breathe… you can pray then each day. Breathe Prayers contain two parts Praise – what names do we call God? Petition – What do we want – what is our deepest yearning. Examples:
Creator God, allow me to see your beauty around me.
Father, let me feel your joy.
Loving God, make room for love in my life.
On the table is a book called “IN GOD’S NAME” - it can help you decide which name you may want to call God today. Enjoy the art work. Take moment in quietness Create your breathe prayer in the space below:
A variation on the Breath Prayer: In a quiet setting, breathe “in” the good thoughts of you life Hold your breath – be thankful Exhale all the thoughts that you have that separate you from God. –By Barbara Weaver for Prayer Centers Lenten program of Williamsville (N.Y.) United Methodist Church
