Improve the GoalKeepers role in the Build Up (Attack)
How does the GoalKeeper position himself and the defense to attack? Work with GK and defensive line and defensive mid to create proper shape to attack when GK plays ball out on a goalkick or GK possession. Looking for defense to get wide and upfield. Looking for midfielder to support central zone of the defensive third. All session should flow through GK.

COACHING POINTS/ KEY CONCEPTS: The five players in one half play four passes in their defensive third then target the goal keeper on the opposite side. The goal keeper will play the ball out to start the attach over. Coach is looking for the movements of the 2,3,4 and 5 to get wide to start attack.

COACHING POINTS/ KEY CONCEPTS: Have six players on each half with goalkeepers on the endlines. One of the players in each half will be the 9 from the opposite side. Still playing four passes in the defensive third then finding the 9 on the opposite side to target GK. Coach is looking for width of defense with upfield movement and the 6 coming to support.

COACHING POINTS/ KEY CONCEPTS: Expanding the small sided to adding the 10 in the opposite half. The six can now join the opposite half once the four passes have been made and played to the 9 or 10. Coach is still looking for GK to position defense wide with upfield movement and support from the 6. Looking also at team compactness once the team is attacking.

TACTICS - ACCESSING SAFETY VS. RISK ATTACKING 1/3 - MOVE - RECEIVE - FINISH MIDDLE 1/3 - BUILD - CONNECT - SUPPORT DEFENSIVE 1/3 - DENY - DESTROY - DEVELOP
QUESTIONS TO ANSWER IN THE SESSION: WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY, & HOW? Who are the players involved in building play from the GK? Why are we worried about the attack in the defensive third of the field? When does this take place in a game? How do the players position themselves to play the ball to the next line?
VISUAL CUES TO TRIGGER PLAYER RESPONSE: Read and understand the Body position of the GK along with voice directives
SESSION NOTES FROM THE COACH: Make sure you are working with only one team. Do not try and coach both teams. Let the other team play.
Coach should be focusing on direct the lesson plan through the GK. Let the GK take the role of communicating the plan to the other players.
Focus is on getting the 4 and 5 wide and to the upper outer edge of the 18 box. The the 2 and 3 getting wide and higher up the field than the 4 and 5. Then having the 6 come back to support the middle of the defensive third.
If play in sessions I and II starts to slow down, look at starting the ball at mid field instead of with the goal keeper.
Look for play back to the GK and how quick we can get into attacking shape.
