One of the features of BuzzEdit™ is the ability to create larger designs formatted for the various multiple hoop templates. Depending on the design file format you are working on, there are many different templates available for you to work in. Note: This function is NOT available in the BuzzEdit™ Lite version. The Janome formats have a few different multiposition hoops: Janome 9000 type machines using the SEW format has the #5 hoop from Janome as well as TWO multiposition hoops from Hoop-It-All™ – Square & DoubleWide Long Janome 10000/300 type machines using the JEF format have the GigaHoop as well as TWO multiposition hoops from Hoop-It-All™ - DoubleLong & DoubleWide. All of these are flip hoops; stitch part A then “flip” the hoop and stitch part B. Janome 11000 type machines using the JEF format have the MacroHoop; this is more like the traditional multiposition hoops that slide between part A and part B. To access the hoops templates, first make sure that you are running the latest version of the BuzzEdit™ software. To check the version you are running: Open BuzzEdit™ to get the Welcome screen: The version and build is shown right under the big splash box with clouds that says BuzzEdit™ If you are already in the program, you can see the version you are running by going to the Help menu and choosing About.

If you are connected to the Internet, you can try updating your software from within the program by choosing the Check for Update located in the Help menu. If you get errors using this option OR to find out more information about the latest version, you should choose to go to the tech support section at BuzzTools.com as listed under the Help menu. Once you have verified that you are running the latest version, you will have the most current hoops and formats available. At this time the MacroHoop template is not built-in to the program, so we will add it very easily right now following the steps here: To Create the MacroHoop Template: 1. Go to File > New Workspace > Start a New Design. Select the JEF format. 2. Go to View > Hoop Properties to show the hoop selection box. All of the current hoops available for this format will be listed including any Custom Hoops you have already created.

3. Select [Create Custom Hoop…] The dialog box to the right will open with no information added. Under Hoop Name type in what you want to call this hoop. If you will be creating both a horizontal and vertical layout, you may wish to add this information to the name – MacroHoop Vertical for example.

Choose the 200mm x 200mm hoop from the Standard Hoop sizes. Set your Hoop Arrangement to Top and Bottom or Left and Right depending if you want a Vertical or Horizontal layout – remember that BuzzEdit™ will automatically rotate the designs for you if needed. The number of hoops in the layout is 2 and the distance between centers is 80mm or 3.15” depending on what you have your unit of measurement set to. Click OK to save your hoop and you will now see it listed in the list of available hoops. Select the hoop and click OK.

To Insert design elements into an empty template: 1. Select the hoop you want the inserted design to be placed into by clicking on the hoop flag in time. The red boundary box will highlight in Space to show you where you are working in the hoop – which position at the machine you are in. 2. Go to File > Insert Design 3. Select to Insert at the stitch cursor.

Insert at the Stitch Cursor If you have selected when you want the inserted design to be placed Insert at the End of the Design If you want the inserted design to be placed at the very end of the design (good choice if you haven’t selected when you want the design to stitch out) CLASS: Choose the design from the notes CD called Celtic Swirl.hus

Move your design as you would like inside the hoop boundary shown in red. If after you move the selection, it no longer resided inside the red hoop boundary, you need to move it to a new place in Time by dragging and dropping it into a new hoop.

CLASS: Go to File > Save As and choose to save your work on your hard drive (C:\BuzzClass\frame.jef)

If you get an error message when you save the design (Save in BuzzEdit™ format) – 1. Save the design so that you don’t lose your work. 2. The hoop whose stitches have not been saved correctly will be selected 3. Zoom in if necessary to see which side of the hoop has stitches outside the red boundary. 4. All stitches must reside in a hoop! Move the errant stitches, delete them or assign them to a new hoop section. As long as all the stitches are inside the red boundary, the design is ready to send to the machine. Resume Step by Step instructions for hands on class:

1. Double click on the RED color in TIME to select it 2. Hit the DELETE key on your

keyboard to remove the selected stitches. 3. Double click on the light gray

color in TIME to select it. Notice that it is also selected in SPACE at the same time. 4. Put your mouse cursor on top

of the selection in SPACE so that your cursor is now a POINTING FINGER, click, HOLD and drag your mouse to move the selection to where you want it to be in the selected hoop position. Keep holding your mouse button down until it is where you want it to be and then release your mouse button. 5. To zoom in and see a close up view, click on the “+” sign in the upper right corner to zoom in. Notice what happened in the Reference window. Zooming in to get a closer view allows you to get this “corner design” right in the corner to maximize hoop area. This is also very helpful when you want to make sure the layering is correct or to make sure that the design is lined up on the grid accurately.

6. Remember to SAVE your work often!! Try to save as soon as you finish something that you would rather not have to do again – like the dentist says “only brush the teeth you want to keep!” If you get an error message, look to see where the stitches are touching or crossing the red border! Fix and resave. 7. Select the “corner” design that is

in the correct position in the upper left corner. Go to the Edit menu and choose Copy. The copies all the selected stitches to the “clipboard” 8. Go to the Edit menu and Choose Paste – the copied stitches are pasted right on top of the original selection – you may not see this in SPACE, but you can see them in TIME. Be sure to keep the current selection selected as we are going to create the right corner from this selection of pasted stitches 9. Go to the BuzzTools menu and choose Flip > Custom to open the dialog box shown to the left. Set the Angle to be 90 degrees Clockwise – the mirror bar in the circle previewed moves up and down. Set the Center of mirror – the crosshair in the circle displayed – to Custom Center and set the Across Value to 0 (zero). If you set the Down value to 0 as well, the crosshair will move to the exact center of the ENTIRE hoop. Click OK – the “mirror/flip” is applied and we can now save our work. Notice that you did not get an error message because the first corner was set inside the hoop and we simply copied, pasted and mirrored it in the exact opposite location. 10. Now we want to create the bottom two corners done in a SIMILAR FASHION. While the top corners are selected, go to the Edit menu and choose Copy. This replaces the single corner that was previously copied with the current selection. 11. Click on the Bottom hoop flag in TIME – the red box for the bottom hoop will now display for this hoop. 12. Choose PASTE from the Edit menu and the stitches will now be placed into the Bottom hoop in TIME – we just need to move them to the bottom hoop, in the correct orientation, in SPACE.

14. Save your work, print your template, send your designs to the embroidery machine or your Customizer software and you are ready to go!
