GENERAL EVENTS Mini Marriage Retreat- November 4-5. Mark Gungor, “Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage,” will be speaking at Sunset Presbyterian Church in Beaverton. Tickets for the Mark Gungor event are $35/person and can be reserved online at markgungor.com/collections/live-events. Pat Korthuis Scholarship Fundraiser Lunch— Sunday, November 20, 11:15 am. Soup, rolls and dessert will be served. Annual Business Meeting— Sunday, November 20, approx. 12:00 pm. All members please plan to stay for this important meeting. Thanksgiving Potluck— Thursday, November 24, 3 pm in the Garden Room. Annual Business Meeting Absentee Ballots Absentee Ballots will be available in the church office during regular church office hours (Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) beginning October 27 through November 17. All absentee ballots must be turned in to the church office by 4 p.m., November 17. Remember, your request for an absentee ballot must be in writing. 2016 Annual Business Meeting Agenda & 2015 Annual Business Meeting Minutes Beginning October 27, copies of the 2016 Annual Business Meeting Agenda and the 2015 Annual Business Meeting Minutes will be available upon request from the church office during regular church office hours (Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.). The 2016 Agenda will also be posted in the Garden Room. The 2016 Annual Report will be published and available in February 2017. Proposed 2017 Budget The complete Proposed 2017 Budget will be available for members in the church office beginning October 27 during regular church office hours (Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.). MEN’S MINISTRY Men’s Breakfast— Saturday, November 5, 8 am. Men’s Bible Study— Wednesdays, 10 am in the Library HOLIDAY GIFT OPPORTUNITIES Operation Christmas Child is a mission project of Samaritan’s Purse. To be a part of this giving, pick up a brochure off the tree in the Garden Room and return your gift boxes by Sunday, November 20. Angel Tree – The local Salvation Army runs a gift center for local families in our area. Tags will be available on the tree in the Garden Room after Thanksgiving. Gifts should be returned to the tree UNWRAPPED by Sunday, December 11. Gift Of Love – These gifts are for families in our own congregation. Red gift tags will be on the tree in the Garden Room with gift ideas. These are all handled anonymously. Please return these gifts already wrapped by Sunday, December 18. (If you are aware of any family in our congregation who could use some help with gifts this year, please contact Sidney at the church office.) Ban San Faan – During this holiday season please consider the opportunity to share Jesus’ love with our “family” in Thailand. We currently have 30 children living at our Children’s Home. Check the tree in the Garden Room for gifts large and small that you can “purchase.” Please give the dollar amount only; the items will be purchased in Thailand.

Annual Project—Nursing Home Christmas Basket Donations Freedom Years supplies Christmas boxes to a local nursing home with needed items to those who have no one visiting them. Single King (includes breakfast) is $114 plus tax. “The Journey,” Calvary’s widow support group, will meet Sunday, November 13, at 12:30 pm at the home of Susan Sterkel, 3810 Rosewood Street. Our program will be “Sharing of Thankfulness” as our scheduled guest developed a painful hip that prevents her from joining us. We were pleased to have Pastor Galen at our October meeting to bless our new year. John Keyser was our speaker, and gave us helpful maintenance reminders and also explained the way the team of Brown Baggers could assist us.
