INTRODUCTION In order to complete this repair properly, you will need teflon tape to seal the threads of the thumb screw drain. Although this step seems unnecessary in some cases, it will make your compressor run more efficiently without excessive starting and stopping. The replacement of thumb screw drain is straightforward.

Step 1 — Remove Thumb Screw Drain
Remove the thumb screw drain from the bottom of the compressor using a Smart Wrench.
The thumb screw may not easily be removed due to corrosion.
Step 2 — Apply Teflon Tape
Apply teflon tape to the replacement thumb screw drain.
The teflon tape should be wound tightly around the entire threaded portion of the thumb screw drain.
When you reassemble the thumb screw drain on the compressor, make sure to fully tighten it using a Smart Wrench.
