Lechowicz Woods North Branch of the Chicago River Address or Nearest Intersection: N. Central Ave., just north of Indian Rd. and a half-mile south of Caldwell Ave. Directions: Entrance is east of Central Ave. Park in either of the parking lots. From the parking lot walk down the hill. The river is behind the trees. There is a dirt path along the river. Owner: Forest Preserve District of Cook County Habitat Description: Nice woodland along the Chicago River. Access to water: There is good access to the water here. For sampling macroinvertebrates, walk along the river to the railroad bridge and wade into the river just west of the bridge. Amenities: Shelters and picnic benches. No bathrooms. Parking: Parking lots Capacity: 60 students
