Equipment : 20 cones, 10 balls, 18 Coloured vests depending on numbers Warm up - Jog, Sprint, Side Steps, Butt Kicks, Lunge walks, High Knees, Hip and shoulder rotations, Static stretching Instructions and Key Coaching Points Play starts at either end Teams play keep away and aim to find their team mate in either end zone to score a point Coaching points….can the GK’s receive in open body position, can the 1st touch be away from danger and towards the next location. Can the passes be accurate. Can players in middle zone play 2 or 3 passes before playing into end zone.
Technical Practice Instructions and Key Coaching Points Players A & B start the drill playing push passes into GK’s 1& 2 ON GK’s 1 & 2 receiving the ball can they hold an open body position and take their 1st touch towards the opposite server On playing ball to new servers the GK’s must then reset to the centre and screen for each other’s position. A&B then play balls fro GK’s to receive and play back to original server. GK’s must then call for pass from players C&D and play back. GK’s then come forward to play balls with E+F White players to apply minimal pressure to each pass forcing GK to play with more speed. No need to intercept passes Coaching points...receive and play in open body position, scan for each others location to avoid contact during cross over, communicate with outfield.
Small Sided Game Instructions and Key Coaching Points Either team start from their GK. The ball must be played through the 3 zones before a goal can be scored. The midfielder is neutral and supports the current attacking team. Defenders must try to intercept, if successful they must play a back pass to their GK who will play out from the back and re start the next attack Coaching points….Can the GK screen pitch before receiving the ball to create the next attack quickly...can the GK play an accurate ball to the free player...Can the GK communicate with outfield players to aid moving the ball forward... Can the Gk communicate effectively with defenders in the transition between attacking and defending.
Planned Outcome of session : Basic fundamentals = Goalkeepers to develop receiving the ball in an open body position and taking 1st touch away from danger area, passing, positioning and communication Areas of Technical Development = Awareness to play out from the back. Communication with defence in transitions between attacking and defending. Commanding back 3 and midfield to spread and play out or compact and pressure if possession is lost. Competence in receiving a back pass and playing out from the back.
