May, 2018 Dear Parents/Guardians: As we approach the end of the school year, it is important that we share some information with you concerning the June 2018 Regents exams and transportation schedules. Enclosed you will find a copy of the June Regents exam schedule, as well as the bus schedule for the test days. Attendance for school final exams is mandatory, and make-up tests will only be allowed if a doctor’s note is provided. There are no make-ups for any Regents exams. If a student is absent for a required Regents exam, he/she may take the test in August, only with advanced approval from a CHS administrator. (Please note that not all Regents exams are given in August and the August Regents exams will not be administered at CHS.) Please review the test schedule with your child so that you are certain of the dates and times when he/she is to report. Please note on June 5, 2018, we will be administering the Transition Regents Exam in Global History and Geography and the Earth Science Practicum at Carmel High School. On this day, the only students required to come to school are those students taking the Transition Regents Exam in Global History and Geography and the Earth Science Practicum. Bus Transportation will be provided. Please see the enclosed schedule. On this day, these students will report to school at their regular time and will be dismissed at 11am. Students taking the Transition Regents Exam in Global History and Geography will be assigned classrooms to report to, while students taking the Earth Science Practicum will report to the gymnasium. The Earth Science students will be held in the gymnasium until their class is called and escorted to a classroom to take their exam. When completed, they will return to the gym and remain until they are dismissed. They are encouraged to bring a book for independent, quiet reading while they wait. The last day of regular classes at BOCES and at Carmel High School is Monday, June 11, 2018. (Please note, after June 11th your child is only required to come to school if he/she has a test). Lockers must be cleaned out completely on or before June 11, 2018. During exam week, their regular bus will pick up students at their regular morning time. Dismissal, however, will vary in relation to the times of the exams. Please see the enclosed transportation schedule. Bus routes will be posted throughout the building since a full complement of buses will not be used for each run. Due to budget constraints, Carmel Summer School will run on an EXTREMELY limited basis.
