Central Amherst Little League Fast Facts

• League established in 1955 as a charter member of Little League Baseball Inc. (Williamsport, PA). • Six diamonds located at 480 Wehrle Drive in Amherst (next to Amherst’s “Big Blue Water Tower”). • Baseball facilities provided by the Town of Amherst since 1955 via User Agreement. • Little League baseball program for children ages 4-18. • Challenger League baseball program for children and adults.

• Fields in active baseball use from April through October (7 days a week from April to July) • Little League (April to July) • Challenger League (April to August) • CALL Mom Softball (July to August) • Travel Teams (April to August) • Summer Sandlot Baseball (July to August) • Catholic School League (September to October)

2017 Season Highlights

Another Year of Record Participation… RECORD and Growing Participation • A league-record 667 total registered players • Up from 632 (2016) and 549 (2015) • A league-record 12 T-Ball teams • 61 teams at 9 levels o T-Ball (ages 4-5) o A-Ball (age 6) o AA Junior (age 7) o AA Senior (age 8) o AAA (ages 9-10) o Majors (ages 11-12) o Juniors (ages 13-15) o Seniors (ages 16-18) o Challenger League o Travel Teams (8U-12U) • 110+ registered coaches (plus additional assistants) • 500+ parent volunteers (includes Snack Stand assistance and other various tasks) • 22-member board of directors

New Programming • Introduction of Summer Sandlot Baseball with 229 registrants House League Programming • 15+ game season for all teams, with playoffs for all teams in AA Junior to Majors levels • Largest enrollment for Junior League teams (ages 13+) in recent history Special Events and Family Fun • Park Prep Day • Opening Day • Memorial Day Parade (Williamsville) • “The Henesey” All-Star Game and Food Truck Friday • League Picnic and Championship Saturday • Amherst Senior Center Days at the Ballpark Upgrades/Improvements to Facilities • New siding/roofing on Equipment Shed and Snack Stand (with labor donated by volunteers) • New dugout framework and covers • New playing equipment for lower divisions

Player and Coach Development Programs • Preseason player clinic hosted by Amherst Central School District baseball program. Event was held at Amherst High School Varsity Gymnasium and attended by more than 200 Central Amherst players. • Preseason coach clinic hosted by Amherst Central School District baseball program. Event was held at Amherst High School Sportsplex and attended by more than 40 Central Amherst coaches. • In-season, player clinics held at the T-Ball and A-Ball levels as part of the season schedule. • Third annual F.B.I. (Fundamental Baseball Instruction) Camp held June 26-30 at Central Amherst complex. Weeklong, full-day camp hosted by Brian Davis and Chris Dolce with assistance of coaches and players from the Amherst Central School District baseball program. Camp was sold out for third straight year.
