Central Catholic Vikings Baseball Boosters 2017 NFL Super Bowl Squares Fundraiser
The Central Catholic Baseball Boosters are once again running a Super Bowl Squares Fundraiser to benefit the Central Catholic Baseball Team. The idea of the fundraiser is for players to sell “squares,” which are essentially lottery tickets. Each square costs $20 and gives a buyer multiple chances to win from $100 to $400. Winning squares are determined by the score of the 2017 NFL Super Bowl, which takes place on Sunday, February 5. Buyers of squares don’t have to know anything about football or how NFL teams have done this season to enter this lottery. Buyers are not picking teams or forecasting the score of the game; they are simply purchasing squares on a grid. This is a game of chance. Each Central Catholic baseball player should strive to sell at least five squares. This letter is accompanied by a form that is to be completed by purchasers of squares (one form per purchaser). Money on sales is due by Monday, January 30, 2016. Squares are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Money can be turned in at any time before January 30. Sellers should turn in their money to the fundraiser coordinator, Steven Martino. They may do so by mailing it to his home address (5641 Woodmont St., Pittsburgh, PA 15217), giving it to his son, Nolan Martino, or giving it to him in person. Steven will be at the PISA session on Monday, January 30 to collect the last of the money. Square choices may also be sent in advance of turning in payments by emailing Steven at

If you are not fond of details, here is the bottom line: Purchasing a square simply involves picking a number, 1-100. Each square purchased gives you six chances to win. The Details The 2017 NFL Super Bowl will take place on Sunday, February 5. Participants in the Super Bowl are the American Football Conference (AFC) champion and the National Football Conference (NFC) champion.
NFC TEAM
The basis for the Super Bowl Squares game is a 10 x 10 grid like the one shown below. The AFC team is assigned to the columns of the grid and the NFC team is assigned to the rows of the grid. Each white square in the interior of the grid represents a specific score in the game based on the bold numbers in the first column (shaded gray) and the first row (shaded gray). An example would be if the Pittsburgh Steelers (representing the AFC) were playing the Philadelphia Eagles (representing the NFC) in the Super Bowl, and the final score of the game was Steelers 33, and Eagles 24. The last digit for the Steelers is 3, and the last digit for the Eagles is 4. The square on the grid that has the Steelers (AFC) with a digit of 3, and Eagles (NFC) with a digit of 4, would be the winner. In the example grid above, the winning square would be square 66. The digits appearing in the gray rows and columns of the grid above are just examples. The actual digits will be picked at random just prior to the Super Bowl and sent to all participants via email. When the final grid is emailed, each of the squares in the grid’s interior will be filled with purchaser’s and seller’s names. The cost of a square is $20. Each participant will select the square(s) to be purchased by number, 1-100. Purchasers must indicate alternative choices. Numbers will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. (You’ll be contacted if additional choices are needed.) Unsold squares will be the property of the Boosters. There will be multiple winners per complete grid, as follows:

Checks will be sent to the winners if an address has been given. If no address is given, the check will go to the family of the seller of the winning square. The seller’s family will then be responsible for that payout. CCHS SGOC 16642
