VERY EXCITING NEWS! VERY EXCITING NEWS! Today we have been able to give every child at Balby Central a present for Christmas! This is so special and has been made possible by HALLAM FM and their Cash for Kids Appeal. Miss Molloy in the school office wrote a wonderful letter to the charity requesting all children at Balby Central could receive a present for Christmas and we heard on Tuesday that this had been made possible. We have had so many people help us since Tuesday, to collect the presents, sort them into year groups and wrap them all. This has been a mammoth task as you can imagine and we know that we are so fortunate that all children have been able to take a present home this Christmas from extremely kind donations from others. A VERY SPECIAL THANKS goes out to Lana Molloy, for writing such a great letter for us to receive the presents - thank you! Northgate Van Hire and Mr Wolsey for donating vans so that we could collect the toys from Sheffield each day Asda at Harworth for donating rolls of wrapping paper Tickhill Garden Centre for 72 rolls of discount wrapping paper The parents, staff and helpers who gave up their time to wrap the presents THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU We ask in return that every child waits until Christmas Day to open their presents. This will make them extra special as we were so honoured to receive such an amazing gift. Merry Christmas to you all!

We are sorry to see Mrs Shaw leave us today. She will leave a huge gap at Balby Central, where she has spent 12 years. Mrs Shaw has taught many children in our school, past and present and I know she will be missed by all. We wish her well and hope to welcome her back to school to teach on a supply basis very soon after her Christmas rest.

On Wednesday and Thursday we held breakfast with Santa – it was a lovely event. Our four winning children went to Waterstones to choose their books. They were the winners drawn from parents attending their child’s progress meeting in October. Also on Wednesday Gresley Road residents were invited into school by Year 6. On Thursday Year 3 and 4 performed Baboushka at church – the children were amazing, speaking confidently and singing beautifully. Our final performance of A Winter Showcase took place on Thursday evening – Balby Voices and Strictly Balby produced a very polished performance! On Friday Mrs Blakemore took a selection of children in Year 3 and 4 to visit other schools and Doncaster College to look at their libraries ready to start designing our own library and learning hub in the shared area in the new year. All of the children enjoyed great Christmas parties – they were all great fun!

Thank you to the parents for their wonderful support with all of our work, performances and celebrations this term – it means a lot to us!

Wel

In my first term as head teacher, it certainly has been busy! We feel as a school we have achieved so much and I have had a wonderful term. We have much more planned for the Spring Term from the launch of a new website, to messages via Facebook, new technology used by the children, a fabulous new learning hub for our library and a big focus on ‘Being the best we can be’.

We said welcome back to William after his major operation in America! We are pleased everything went well for William

Well done to SCARLET and RED class for best attendance this term
