Water for life water of life Water for Life

We do it without thinking. This morning, I grabbed a glass out of the cabinet, turned on the facet and filled my glass with clean water. Easy. However, it is not so easy for the villagers in the mountains of Haiti. To get to the mountain village of Cha-Cha (pronounced Sha-Sha), it takes us about four hours to hike to the top. The villagers of Cha-Cha must hike to the bottom of the mountain to fill their five-gallon buckets with unclean water and carry it back up the mountain. Can you imagine carrying a five gallon bucket of water, weighing forty pounds, on top of your head all the way back up the mountain? Several times a day? And with dirty water for your family?

Water of Life

The water cistern will be located on the church property at Cha-Cha. This means everyone in the surrounding community that comes for physical water will hear the testimony of Jesus, the True Living Water. What an opportunity! We have a team ready to make the hike up the mountain and see the cistern installed. This village holds a very special place in our hearts. Over 30 years ago, we experienced the Presence of God abiding so wonderfully with the believers there. The Presence of God is as real there today as it was all those years ago!

Water for Christmas

So, would you consider giving clean water to the villagers at Cha-Cha? If so, please visit our site at www.plow.org and go to the “Donate” page. You can make a direct donation there, knowing that you will be giving both water for life and the Water of Life to over a thousand souls. What a wonderfully practical Christmas Blessing! Thanks for caring!

Dirty water from a stream used as drinking water Disease is rampant in Haiti and many are waterborne diseases such as Giardia and Cholera. If you go to a medical doctor in the States, they will encourage you to “drink plenty of fluids” for your recovery. But in villages like Cha-Cha drinking plenty of fluids only perpetuates the problem. Why? They are drinking contaminated often disease-ridden water and are doing more harm to their systems. We want to change that scenario for the village of ChaCha, and we have a plan. We have located a 12,000 gallon water cistern in Haiti that is ready to install. The complete project will cost us $25,000. Our Haitian brothers have already prepared the site and, once purchased, they will carry the cistern, piece by piece, to the top of Cha-Cha for assembly. This cistern will bring life-sustaining water to over a thousand villagers.
