Factorial ANOVA  Independent variables also called factors  ANOVA can accommodate multiple factors each having two or more levels

 Simplest would be 2 factors, each with two levels

Factorial ANOVA (Cont.)  An example of a more complex factorial ANOVA is:

 This is called a three way ANOVA because there are three factors with one factor having three levels and the other two factors each having two levels (3 X 2 X 2).  This can be theoretically expanded to any number of factors and any number of levels although interpretation of results can become increasingly difficult.
