Chapter 3 The Indian Prime Minister The Indian Prime Minister is Narendra Modi. He was born on September 17th, 1950. His wife is Jashodaben, they do not have any kids together. He is the 15th Prime Minister of India. O n 26th May 2014 Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister of India, becoming the first ever PM to be born after India attained Independence. Dynamic, dedicated and determined, Narendra Modi reflects the aspiration and hope of over a billion Indians. Ever since he assumed office in May 2014, PM Modi has embarked on a journey of allround and inclusive development where every Indian can realize their hopes and aspirations. He remains deeply inspired by the principle of ‘Antyodaya’, of serving the last person in the queue. Narendra Modi was drawn to politics in his early teens. During the 1960's IndiaPakistan war, even though he was only a young boy, he volunteered to serve soldiers traveling through railway stations. As a youth, he became a member of a student body anticorruption. After having worked full time with them, he was then nominated as its representative. Modi was also a campaigner in the RSS during his years in college and took on the task of encouraging the party members. The party began getting political attention and formed a coalition government in April 1990. A careful observation of his rise to the national podium would evince how he remained glued to his fundamentals continuing
agitations during the nationwide Emergency, organizing. On 2nd October 2014, the PM launched ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ a mass movement for cleanliness across the Nation. The scale and impact of the movement is historic. Narendra Modi’s foreign policy initiatives have realized the true potential and role of world’s largest democracy, India on the world stage. He began his term in office in presence of all Heads of States of SAARC Nations. Narendra Modi became the first Indian Prime Minister to embark on a visit to Nepal after a long period of 17 years, to Australia after 28 years, to Fiji after 31 years and Seychelles after 34 years. Since taking over, Narendra Modi attended UN, BRICS, SAARC and G20 Summits, where India’s interventions and views on a variety of global economic and political issues were widely appreciated.
