Charter F2 Fungicide Seed Treatment recently received federal registration for use as a seed treatment on wheat and barley. The labeled use rate for Charter F2 is 5.4 fl oz per 100 lbs of seed. Charter F2 is a new seed treatment that contains both triticonazole and metalaxyl in a ready-to-use formulation with a built-in polymer coating, thereby combining the benefits of Charter® Fungicide Seed Treatment and Acquire® Fungicide Seed Treatment with convenience of use, reduced dust and excellent seed safety. Disease spectrum: Triticonazole and metalaxyl in Charter F2 provide control of a broad spectrum of wheat and barley pathogens, including Fusarium seed rot and Seedling blight, Cochliobolus seedling blight, Damping off (Pythium spp.), Wheat common bunt (Tilletia tritici/caries), Wheat loose smut (Ustilago tritici), Barley true loose smut (Ustilago nuda), Barley covered smut (Ustilago hordei), and suppression of Rhizoctonia root rot (Rhizoctonia solani), Common root rot (Cochliobolus spp.) and Dry seed decay (Penicillium spp.).
Wheat Yields with Charter F2 The combination of triticonazole and metalaxyl was included in wheat trials conducted by universities and private cooperators and at demonstration trial sites for 4 years in locations across the US and compared against untreated and competitive seed treatment fungicides. These results add to the long track record of seed safety and positive effects on emergence, stand and yields in wheat and barley with the Charter brand line of products.

Charter F2’s formulation characteristics make it handle well in various types of seed treatment equipment and planters in a broad range of temperatures. The formulation characteristics of Charter F2 also result in low levels of dust-off from the seed due to a built-in polymer coating. The laboratory study results shown to the right demonstrate a 16 % reduction in dust from the seed treated with Charter F2 compared to Raxil ® MD fungicide.

Stamina® Fungicide Seed Treatment can be added to Charter F2 for a broader and enhanced spectrum of disease control and improved seedling emergence potential under certain cold conditions. Axcess® Insecticide Seed Treatment can be added to Charter F2 for insect control.
