Project Record Directions 1.
One project record is needed for each species or project area that a 4-H'er is involved in.
2.
Try to finish project records as completely as possible. Include as much information as possible about all of the animals you own that are part of your project area. This includes all show, breeding, and market animals.
3.
Continuous records should be kept on project animals from one year to the next. These should start Oct. 1 and end Sept. 30 of the current 4-H year. Records for purchased animals should begin when that animal enters your herd.
4.
The project ends the day the animal is sold, butchered, or dies. If you lose a project animal, write down the date and an estimated value of the animal.
5.
Project records are intended to be a learning tool for 4-H'ers. Learning to keep records and monitoring the financial costs of a project are lifetime skills that 4-H teaches. Recording important dates and activities associated with the project on a yearly calendar can aid the completion of these records.
6.
A completed project record must be submitted to the 4-H Office no later than September 15 th of the current 4-H year for County Medal Consideration in each animal area a 4-H member has participated in.
