Children Youth and Family Ministry Director Faith Lutheran Church Winona, MN Effective 6/29/16 Reports to: Pastor Status: FT FLSA: Exempt Job Summary Children, Youth and Family Ministry of Faith Lutheran (hereinafter CYFM) seeks to strengthen and support families, facilitate faith development and enhance the sense of belonging among children, youth, parents/guardians and mentors. A competent, well-focused CYFM director will be able to mobilize volunteers, develop meaningful relationships with our youth and families and provide leadership and consistency for this increasingly important ministry. Faith Lutheran Church will be the CYFM Director’s primary place of worship. The CYFM Director will support the mission vision and values of the ELCA, and this congregation; and will support Lutheran theology. Essential Functions: Develop meaningful relationships with youth, parents, staff, and volunteers
Relational outreach to youth & their families at home, school, and activities Reach out to those who are absent Care for the youth and families through advocacy, support and prayer
Plan and implement middle school & high school ministries
Youth Groups Leadership Development & Mentoring
Work collaboratively with CYFM team to plan and implement elementary school and family ministries Work collaboratively with the Pastor in Confirmation Ministry Promote and Coordinate youth summer camp, mission trip, and summer programming
Plan, provide supervision, develop goals for each opportunity Team Building throughout the year for support and encouragement Support fundraising opportunities
Work collaboratively with the CYFM Leadership Team
Develop strategic goals Develop the calendar of activities and events Support opportunities for families to enjoy faith enhancing activities Support a network of volunteers to assist ministries Oversight of CYFM budget Determine responsibility for implementing tasks, programs, activities, and events through collaborative decision-making when responsibility is un-designated or unclear.
Collaborate with others to integrate youth into the whole ministry of Faith Lutheran
Music & Worship Vacation Bible School Children’s Faith Focus on Sunday mornings Intergenerational events and service projects Community outreach and advocacy
Requirements
A mature, vibrant faith, knowledge of the Bible, and a strong public discipleship A passion for and ability to work effectively with children, youth and their families Demonstrated ability to work effectively, positively and cooperatively as a member of our staff Demonstrated ability to teach effectively with small and large groups A desire and ability to lead people toward a life of discipleship 3-5 years’ experience preferred in youth ministry with experience in leadership BA degree preferred or certification of youth and family ministries Use multiple forms of communication to effectively inform and market
Working conditions: The CYFM Director position requires flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. The actual number of hours required during any given week are those needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. It is recognized that the schedule may vary at different times of the year.
