Lesson Week #14 “NAS Strategies” Robin:
Loop it around and tie up their senses.
Igor:
You loop it around and tie up their senses; that’s very close.
Student:
Tell them they’re feeling it.
Igor:
Tell them they’re feeling it and that you’re getting it so that you echo it back and then what?
Student:
Tell them more stuff.
Igor:
Okay.
Brian:
Imply a trance.
Igor:
There you go, he’s got it now. You imply a trance. [At easel] Here’s what you do; it’s very similar to this. You start off with H-Plus, you go onto orienting questions. We’ll have some interesting questions to ask here in a moment, but it’s not difficult to do, because you’ve already done it, you made your own up. I’ll give you some you can play with, but you have your own thing there. Then we do exactly what you were saying, which is?
Student:
Echo.
Igor:
That’s right. See, you can strike this whole thing by yourselves. You don’t even need me anymore. Four, this is the key piece, which is what happened over here. I’m calling it the re-frame stage. Whatever experience they’re having, it has to be reframed as a hypnotic experience of some sort. How do we do that? There’s a list, it’s not a finite list but it’s a pretty good list of things that I look for to be able to imply something unconscious is happening. One is when you have a conscious/unconscious disassociation, in other words something is happening outside of conscious awareness. By the

way, you can track a lot of these things from what you saw me do a moment ago. If there’s something which looks like a hypnotic phenomenon then I want to encourage it. That’s why I zeroed in on that finger straight away. It looked a little unconscious and it was getting very close to a hypnotic phenomenon, automatic motion. If it falls within the gambit of a trance theme, it’s hypnotic. Notice how we started talking about energized and feeling good that was my first opening gambit, until I saw a much better one. Did you notice that? This is a general one. This is something you can do whenever. If you don’t think they’re aware of it that’s good. If they’re not aware of it but it’s really negative, then please don’t go that way either, because where attention goes energy flows oh were you aware of the fact that you’re a complete loser? Students:
[Laughter]
Igor:
That’s not quite the kind of hypnotherapy we’re encouraging here. It may well do. This is a beautiful one, I love this. Again, you saw me do this. Anything that can be given a label that, something amazing or unusual is happening that’s a great frame to come from. Did anybody hear me use that with Brian? Do you often point your finger like that? That’s kind of unusual, isn’t it? By drawing out distinctions saying like hey, you don’t normally do this; what’s the implication? Something not normal must be happening that must be trance. Do you see how that works? Do you see how that reasoning process works? That’s kind of like the thought you had in the back of your mind. I’m not saying you know you must be in trance because your finger is pointing this way that’s like no, don’t be silly. What kinds of other things could be a reason for it? If I imply it, it’s much more powerful. Do you often point your finger like that? No. I wonder what it means and you just leave it hanging, they’ll do the work for you. Do you see how that works?

Any kind of unconscious activity, this is what I actually started off on when I saw his finger tapping, I knew that’s an unconscious activity, so that’s what I zeroed in on. Finally, as a rule – this is not always true, but as a rule – I’m trying to focus attention more internal so something happens inside rather than on the outside, I’ll be more interested in it. It really depends on where his interest normally is. If it’s somewhere internal very much in his head, then I’ll usually take it the other way to where his attention normally isn’t, which is external. Do you see how that works? How would you do this in a practical sense? “NAS Reframes” What kind of answers did you get? What did people say to you? Anyone? Just choose a random thing off your list, it really doesn’t matter. Just put your hand up. Anyone over here– put it right up otherwise these guys can’t see you. There you go. Student:
I just noticed that I said do you know your hand is twitching.
Igor:
Excellent. How might you use do you know your hand is twitching, so your hand is twitching that’s the echo. What’s happening there? My hand is twitching. Your hand is twitching that’s the echo. How do you reframe that as a kind of trance response? Do you always twitch your hand like that? No. I wonder what it means. There’s that hand twitching away and you’re not choosing to do it, I wonder what it means?
Student:
Can you just tell them what it means?
Igor:
It’s so much more powerful if they try to work it out, because they’re sitting there going yes, what does it mean? Meanwhile their unconscious goes I know! I know what it means! His conscious mind says I wonder what it means. The unconscious says I know, I know what’s going on! It’s much more fun. I wonder what it means. I really wonder what it means. Who’s next?
Student:
Just a couple simple ones that he gave, like he felt the glasses upon his ears.

Igor:
He’s feeling his glasses upon his ears. How might you use that? You say oh you feel your glasses up on your ears. You’re feeling that, how might you use that?
Student:
Are you always aware of the feeling of your glasses upon your ears?
Igor:
Do you usually notice the glasses on your face? No, I normally forget about them. Oh, but now you noticed. I wonder, what drew your attention to that? I don’t know. As soon as someone says the words – these are the magic words – I don’t know, at this point you are laughing, because you are going to screw them up so badly they’ll never think straight again. The minute someone says I don’t know, what have you got? You’ve got a conscious/unconscious dissociation something happened and you don’t know. You feel the sensation of the glasses on your face, yes? Out of all the sensations that’s what drew your attention and you normally don’t feel it, but now you do.
Student:
I wonder why.
Igor:
I wonder why that is. You don’t know do you? You really don’t know and yet you’re feeling those glasses, but you don’t know why. You don’t know why and you’re feeling those glasses and you really don’t know, but something is happening. It must mean something, because you normally don’t feel your glasses, do you? It must mean something. I wonder what that is. That’s it. There you go. That’s right. What’s happening now?
Student:
I just feel my body settling down.
Igor:
You feel your body settling down. Your body is settling down and you feel that, don’t you? You really do feel your body settling down, don’t you? Did you expect your body would settle down like that? You didn’t expect that did you. Isn’t it strange that your body can settle down, just because of the way you feel your glasses? You don’t even know what the connection is; do you, between feeling the glasses and your body settling down?
Student:
No.

Igor:
Yet, it wasn’t until you really paid attention to that feeling of those glasses that your body started settling down. What’s happening here? That’s right that’s right; there you go. All the way Michael, all the way and really learn from this. Really learn something; that your unconscious mind doesn’t have to make any sense of, because you can know things and really know them without realizing that you know them. You can know things and really know them and not really know that you know them. You know that your body is settling down and it really is settling down. You don’t know why or how and yet there it is. By the way, how long did that take?
Students:
A couple of minutes.
Igor:
So do you really have to do five hour inductions where your shoulders are relaxing and the small muscles on the top of your elbow joint is relaxing – do you need to do all that? Sometimes it’s useful, right but you don’t have to. Feel free to return Michael, as soon as you’ve learned something without realizing what that something is. As soon as you’ve learned something important without realizing what that something is, you’ll find your breathing returning to normal, your eyes will flutter open and you’ll feel fantastic and you’ll have no idea why. Your unconscious mind can teach you about feeling good without having logical reasons for it. That’s right. Rock n’ roll– good man
Students:

Igor:
Go ahead, Michael.
Michael:
Initially, the first thing when I asked him what he was experiencing, he said I have an itch on my nose. My question with that is that’s something that comes from the subconscious or you’re not consciously aware of making it happen; however, generally itching is something you’re consciously aware of.
Igor:
Sure.
Michael:
My intuition says that’s a good thing to use.

Igor:
Your intuition is absolutely correct. What you’re not doing, you’re not doing this it’s not about not being aware of it, because he is, but you can do this, because he didn’t choose it. Do you see how you have different levels to go in? Oh, so your nose is itching. Did you decide to make it itch? No.
Michael:
Why did it start itching right now?
Igor:
Exactly. Now my own nose itches; you bastard.
Students:
[Laughter]
Igor:
I’m going to be like huh? Oh, I’m training, yes…
Michael:
Lunch is on Igor.
Igor:
Ah, the magic is back.
Debra:
Blinking?
Igor:
Blinking, perfect. Does anyone care to have a wild guess as to how you might use blinking?
Student:
It’s unconscious to begin with most of the time.
Igor:
Exactly, it’s unconscious to begin with. Oh, so did you know you were going to blink? Are you blinking normally? Are you sure about that? That’s right. What just happened there? What’s happening to your blinking now? Do you always blink like that?
Student:
Sure.
Igor:
Are you sure about that? Isn’t it speeding up? That’s right. Do you always speed up your blinking when someone talks to you? No. Something is happening, isn’t it Debra. Something is happening. Maybe it’s a signal for something. Who knows, that’s right. That’s right, there you go. All the way Debra, you may as well really enjoy this one. That’s it. You’re doing great. The thing is Debra, because you have this experience, your ability to spot how to do this with other people just flies through the roof. That’s right. Just let it all go. Your ability to do the non-awareness set is just so simple and natural, because all you have to do is spot anything and do exactly what

you’ve just experienced. That’s easy to do, isn’t it? If you can experience it, then you can help other people experience it too. Take your time to really appreciate how good it feels to let your unconscious do a little bit of the driving for a change, to let your unconscious do the driving for a change and be happy that you don’t have to do the work. When you’re ready, just bring yourself back in your own time. Eyes fluttering open, breathing back to normal and you’re feeling refreshed, relaxed, alert and simply fantastic. Is it me or is it hot in here? You’re doing great. You’re doing really well. Do you mind if I move on? Debra:

Igor:
Go ahead, Constance – Connie.
Connie:
If he said, how are you feeling, he’s feeling happy to answer my questions how would you do that one?
Igor:
That’s quite an intellectual thing, right, so how might you use that? At this point I’m going to go to non-awareness. Are you feeling happy to answer my questions? What’s going on behind that?
Connie:
Behind where?
Igor:
Behind that.
Connie:
That he’s obedient and that I’ve got him.
Igor:
Oh someone is being obedient is that what you’re telling me?
Connie:
Yes.
Igor:
What does it feel like when someone is being obedient?
Connie:
It’s great I’ve got him where I want him.
Igor:
You have someone where you want him and you know that don’t you?
Connie:
Sure.

Igor:
You know that. You didn’t realize you had him where you wanted him, did you?
Connie:
Oh I knew.
Igor:
Oh you knew. You knew that didn’t you? You really did know that.
Connie:
Yes.
Igor:
You really did know exactly where you wanted him.
Connie:
Yes and that I could move him forward now.
Igor:
Now you can move him forward. Wow, he’s doing all the work for you after all.
Connie:
Yes.
Igor:
Do you guys get a sense of how we’re using this? I mean we could stay here all day and take examples, but it’ll be more interesting if you guys actually have a go at this, don’t you think? Do you need anymore examples or demonstrations of it in action?
Student:
Just one thing I noticed when you were working with her and you were drawing her attention to the blinking, I was watching your blinking and when you were doing rapid inductions the other day and you were doing the tapping, you were doing the same thing with your blinking as a pacing thing to help draw her in.
Igor:
Yes, exactly right. Just as a little added extra, she was blinking and it was starting to speed up and to give her unconscious mind an idea of what probably could happen and be quite useful I went I wonder what’s going to happen – now. Do you see where that goes?
Student:
I’m interested why you told him when he was in trance that he would find out something, but he won’t be aware of it?
Igor:
Just because it’s a nice way of learning. Normally, we learn about things by studying them, being conscious and all that sort of thing, but if you think about it, some of the biggest shifts in your life are happening without you having any idea how or when. For example, you liked to play certain games when you were young and now you don’t play them anymore. You’d feel silly doing it, but when did you change? Did you wake up one Tuesday morning and say you know what I don’t want to play those games anymore.

When did you become an adult? At what point did you stop being a child? At what point did your path in life get set in the way it is now? You didn’t wake up one morning and just say this is it. There are a lot of things happening in the back of your mind and people don’t appreciate how much good can happen when your unconscious – actually that’s right– you’re noticing that, aren’t you? You didn’t realize it was happening but now you do. What’s it feel like when you know that? You don’t have to think, you just feel good. It’s an interesting thought isn’t it that you don’t have to think to feel good. That’s it you don’t have to think to feel good. That’s all we’re doing, realizing that we don’t have to think to feel good. We don’t need a reason to feel good, so why be aware of it? How about just being aware of being good or feeling it? You see what I mean by that, don’t you? Very good. Just let that settle in, in it’s own time. Are you guys ready to do this?
