Christian Youth Theater Wichita CYT SHOW HANDOUT Behavioral Guidelines & Consequences FAILURE TO FOLLOW GUIDELINES BELOW WILL HAVE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES…PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! CYT General Behavior Guidelines
CYT is a privilege and cooperative behavior and respect for the Director, Area Coordinator, parents and facility representative is expected. Honoring language will be used. No name-calling or profanity is allowed. CYT students are expected to dress appropriately, modestly, and follow the CYT Dress Code. CYT expects students’ conduct to be respectful to property. Therefore, any damage done to property intentionally will be expected to be replaced or repaired by the student. CYT students Cast in the show and those who serve on Crew are expected to attend their CYT classes. CYT expects purity of self in relationships with others and one’s own body;; therefore, drugs, alcohol, and smoking are strictly prohibited. Expressions of boyfriend-girlfriend type relationships between students are not appropriate at CYT activities. Physical contact of students is discouraged. CYT wants all students to do their best and believe the Lord will do a good work in their lives.
Show Rehearsal and Performance Guidelines
All absences must be listed on the Audition Form conflict list. Any absence during tech week or from a show will result in dismissal from the show and the part will be recast. In the event of student illness, contact the Area Coordinator, or the CYT Wichita office at 316682-1688 immediately. Up to 3 absences due to illness or emergency will likely require dismissal from the show. Absences affect future show casting. Check in with the Area Coordinator or designated CYT representative for every rehearsal or call time. Students are expected to arrive 15 minutes early with their script and pencil. After 3 late arrivals, cast members will likely be excused from the show and his/her part recast. (Parents: pickup your children on time as well). Cell phones and electronic devices are not permitted during all rehearsals and performances. Avoid unnecessary noise and distractions during rehearsals and performances. Stay in designated areas. CYT students may not leave the facilities at any time, unless permission to do so has been given to the CYT staff persons in charge by the student’s parent or guardian. (This includes breaks between class and rehearsal and lunchtime on school day performances.) A sack lunch should be brought by the cast/crew members or delivered to the facility by an adult. (Students are not allowed to participate in “fast food runs” without parental permission). Students are expected to behave in a professional manner. When appropriate, all students should be prepared with costumes, makeup and props. Have a great time learning and growing! Revised: 1/21/13
Consequences (Discipline Procedures)
Instructor or CYT representative adult in charge will talk with the individual student about his/her misbehavior. Student will be excused from activity for a period of time if behavior continues. Area Coordinator will discuss with parent and explain the misbehavior of the student, and the consequences of continued misbehavior. If misbehavior continues, the Artistic Director will discuss with the parent and student, offering alternative behavior choices. Possible dismissal from CYT activities, i.e. class, show, etc. may result. . Continued misbehavior will result in dismissal from CYT activities for a particular season and dismissal from the show may result. Parents and students should be aware that all misbehavior will be documented and may affect participation in future CYT activities. In certain cases, misbehavior that CYT considers extreme and/or which threatens the well being of others will result in immediate suspension and/or permanent expulsion from all CYT activities.
