Instructions (In-Vehicle Replacement) 1. Remove both the range sensor and solenoid module connectors. Make sure to push the red locking tabs into the “unlock” position before removing connectors (Figures 1 & 2). 2. Remove hex-headed bolts holding valve body and carefully lower the valve body. The OD and UD accumulator pistons and springs will come out with the valve body (towards the front). Pistons and springs are not secured to the valve body, so they can fall out. 3. Make sure the parking rod and manual shaft is in the correct position (Figures 3 & 4). Figure 3

4. Install the two accumulator pistons/springs into the case. Place valve body in position and hand tighten bolts. Locked Position
5. Ensure that the manual shaft rotates by installing shift lever and turning by hand. Place shift lever back in the original position (to the rear of the vehicle). IF the shaft is in a bind, loosen the valve body bolts only slightly and wiggle valve body until shaft is free. 6. Fill transmission with ATF +4 (six or more quarts may be required after replacing the module). 7. With the engine running and brake depressed, cycle the transmission in R and D several times. 8. Perform the “Quick Learn Procedure.” NOTE: It is necessary to perform the “Quick Learn Procedure” after replacing the solenoid module.
