Planting a new church is a daunting endeavor... That requires a great deal of support. Most new churches are started with the support of a local sponsoring church. Often several churches go together to assist financially with the needs of a new church. A sponsoring church provides covering which may include financial support, prayer support, and at times volunteers to help. Covering could also include insurance, legal covering as part of the 501c3 of the sponsoring church and more.

Financial support Several financial support systems are available to help a new church get started. Short term support can be provided through the North American Mission Board (NAMB) and the California Southern Baptist Convention (CSBC) for up to a three year period. Often a sponsoring church or group of churches will also provide some level of financial assistance. The goal is develop the congregation of the new church so that within a three year time frame the new church is financially self supported through the contributions of its members.
Some of the services being developed include: • • • • • •
Sustained Support San Diego Southern Baptist Association provides support for all new churches planted in San Diego County. The Association provides coaching, training, and potential partnerships. And now a new form of support is being developed called Church Planting HUBS. New churches apply for membership in the Association be completing a Membership Application. When the application is received a meeting is scheduled with the Credential Committee. The Committee will meet with the new church leadership and will make a recommendation to the Association to become a member. Membership makes all the resources of the Association available to new churches such as use of Mobile Event Trailers, Mobile Baptistery, and much more. A peer-coaching network meets together each month for encouragement and insights. San Diego Southern Baptist Association is exploring how a HUB can be developed that will provide services that every new church needs.
A HUB location could be the sponsoring church or a rented office facility. Some of the services are without cost and others may have a reasonable fee.
