Being on Summer Staff is a very demanding job. Done correctly it is also extremely rewarding. We have in place the Counselor In Training (CIT) program to expose participants to the demands of being a counselor and maximize their preparedness to one day be great counselors themselves. As a participant in the CIT program, you will begin to understand the hard work, dedication, and effort that go in to creating an amazing experience for our campers at St. Crispin’s. It’s also a ton of fun! Making the transition from 100% served to 100% serving comes with deep rewards from the special sense of paying it forward. You love Camp. Now you get to help others fall in love with it! The following is taken from the Summer Staff application and gives you a glimpse into the responsibilities of a counselor and some of the things you will learn about as a CIT: Act as a positive role model Participates in weekly staff spiritual program led by Spiritual Formation Director Intentionally builds and maintains relationships Participates in and contributes to the spiritual life of the Camp community Puts needs of others ahead of own Takes a stand for what is right even if unpopular Works consistently, follows through on commitments, and puts in a strong effort even when taxing Resolves disputes or conflicts with other staff members, informing SCD of issues as necessary Ensure that campers feel loved and accepted and have the best experience of their lives Responsible for the health, safety, and happiness of campers Responsible for the carrying out of assignments as assigned by SCD Lives in cabin with either another Summer Staff Counselor, Volunteer, or CIT Teach and manage assigned activities Responsible for maintaining discipline in the cabin, at meal times, and activities Inform SCD of problems with campers or other counselors Comes up with activities or a plan of action when conditions change suddenly v   Exercises initiative v   Uses good judgment v   Participates

The CIT program is for those going into the 11th & 12th grade (2017-2018 school year) & 2017 graduates. SPOTS ARE LIMITED AND AWARDED ON A ROLLING BASIS.
