3.2 “Placerville, a Unique Historical Past Forging into a Golden Future” City Manager’s Report January 10, 2017 City Council Meeting Prepared by: Dave Warren, Director of Finance Item #: 3.2 Subject: Acknowledge and file the Worker’s Compensation Trending Report. ______________________________________________________________________________ Background: The City is a founding member of the Northern California Cities Self Insurance Fund (NCCSIF), which is a Joint Powers Authority (JPA) that was formed in 1979, that offers self-insured risk services to municipalities such as general liability insurance, property insurance, and worker’s compensation insurance. For the past 38 years, the City has participated in the worker’s compensation program which is currently administered by York Risk Services Group on behalf of NCCSIF. Discussion: Tonight, Dori Zumwalt, Senior Account Manager from York Risk Services Group, will present the Worker’s Compensation Trending Report for the City. The purpose of the report is to provide the City Council and the Public an update on the City’s worker’s compensation claim performance over the past five years. It is also a working document for City management to identify program successes and areas that may need additional safety precautions. Options: 1. Acknowledge and file the Worker’s Compensation Trending Report as presented. 2. Do nothing. Cost: This is an information item, and there are no costs associated with tonight’s action. Budget Impact: The City Council adopted the Fiscal Year 2016/2017 Operating Budget which assumed the worker’s compensation insurance premium. Recommendation: Acknowledge and file the Worker’s Compensation Trending Report.
