In this class, we will learn how to make precise Lemoyne star blocks in two sizes. There are many areas where it is easier to cut and piece than it looks! This could be made larger if desired. SUPPLIES: Flower head pins Sewing machine with ¼” foot, pedal, cords and manual 18” x 24” rotary cutting mat Sharp rotary cutter Scissors Seam ripper Deb Tucker Lemoyne Star ruler Ruler grips – add these to the back of the Lemoyne Star ruler to stop it from slipping 6 1/2” x 24” ruler or larger 6 ½” square ruler 12 ½” square ruler 6” x 12” ruler (or wider) with a 45 degree marking is useful Orange Cutting Edge Strips are useful or repositionable arrows Ruler “arrows” are useful Pencil/chalk marker or permanent pen that will show up on your background fabric Masking Tape or labels Best Press or Flatter FABRICS: This makes a 58” square throw or add larger borders, or make more blocks. Background: Tone on tone or plainer fabric 2.5m Stars: SIX fabrics at .25 each Inner border: .3 *can be larger if required Outer border: .7 * can be larger if required Binding: .5 HOMEWORK: o Spray fabrics with Best Press or Flatter and press. Leave fold in WOF (Width of fabric) o Background cut and label Cut (1) 13” WOF strip, open and from that cut E (1) 12 ½” 18 ½” and D (2) 6 ½” x 18 ½” Cut (3) 6 ½” WOF strips, open and cut from these C (1) 6 ½” x 24 ½”, B (3) 6 ½” x 12 ½”, A (8) 6 ½” squares. Cut (6) 4 ¾” WOF strips, label 12” star Cut (8) 3 ¼” WOF strips, label 6” star
