Quick Start Guide Clearwater is the “new standard” for investment accounting, reporting, and analytics. The cloud-based system is easy to access and user friendly, yet loaded with powerful customization options that allow you to integrate Clearwater into your existing processes or workflow. While the list of available features is long and always growing, this guide is designed to help you get started quickly. To get the most out of Clearwater, familiarize yourself with these three simple options for unlocking rich features throughout the system:
1. Account Dropdown Options To reveal a dropdown that is filled with report customization options, click on the arrow next to the report name and account details at the top left-hand side of your screen. Use this option to select the account, date or date range, as well as other reportspecific options for any report throughout the site.
2. Right-Click Context Menu To reveal a variety of customization options within any Clearwater report, click your right mouse button on any column header in a report. Customization options include:
• Sorting
• Adding and removing columns (data points)
• Filtering
• Setting one or multiple layers of groupings (subtotaling/summarizing portfolio data points)
• Expanding or collapsing all groupings in the view
• Formula Column (+ - * /)

3. “More...” Dropdown Options All Clearwater reports can be downloaded to Excel or PDF format by clicking on the icons to the left of the “More...” dropdown. Use this menu option to save, save a copy, or share a report. You can also configure the PDF export options and select which report columns you would like to include, as well as their placement in the PDF. Lastly, you can select to export the “Summary Only” version of a report, which means only the group-level data will export, as opposed to the group-level data and all the underlying rows. If you can master the features in these three options—the Account Dropdown Options, the “More…” Dropdown Options, and the Right-Click Context Menu—you will be able to take maximum advantage of the most commonly used customization features available throughout the powerful Clearwater system.
4. Extra Credit For extra credit, become familiar with the Report Manager, which is found in the Tools dropdown menu. The Report Manager provides convenient access to reports not included in your menu, as well as the ability to search for reports, share reports, view report details, access reports others have shared with you, and edit report names. Detailed descriptions of all Clearwater features can be found in the official Clearwater User Guides. User guides are available for download from the Client Portal and using the HELP tab on the upper left of the website menu. Please contact your Clearwater Account Manager if you have any questions.
