Clinton High School Varsity Volleyball Letter-Winner Award Criteria 1. Varsity Volleyball Letter Award The Varsity letter Award is presented to student-athletes at the varsity level who have reached and exceeded athletic criteria that has been set forth by the Clinton High School Volleyball Program. Student-athletes must earn the required criteria below that is set forth by the varsity volleyball program. Those who earn a varsity letter are awarded with a Certificate and/or a sport specific athletic pin at the volleyball awards ceremony that is held after the completion of the volleyball season. Student-Athletes MUST meet TWO of the FOUR Criteria (or Coaches Criteria) below to be eligible for a Varsity Volleyball Letter: Criteria 1: A participating student-athlete (regardless of grade level on the Varsity Team) must earn participation in at least HALF of the available regular season scheduled SETS during the season. Criteria 2: A participating student-athlete (regardless of grade level on the Varsity Team) fulfills team expectations by making the final post-season IGHSAU tournament volleyball roster and/or was chosen as an honorary Team Captain or designated team leadership position by the volleyball players/coaches. Criteria 3: A participating student-athlete (regardless of grade level on the Varsity Team) who attends at least 80% of spring and summer off-season volleyball related events. If participating in another CHS sponsored sport, considerations/exemptions will be made towards your attendance. Multi-sport athletes are highly recommended. These events include but are not limited to spring open gyms, summer volleyball practices and/or camps, volunteer/community events and team fundraiser events. (see final attendance sheet) Criteria 4: A participating student-athlete (regardless of grade level on the Varsity Team) must attend all required (18) sessions for the Summer CHS Strength & Conditioning Program, therefore deemed as an “Iron Queen” -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Coaches Criteria: In addition to the above four criteria, the Head Coach may use an Exception or Revoke a student-athlete (regardless of grade level on the Varsity Team) in any of the following cases below: (Exception) Participates on the varsity team, but receives a long‐term or season‐ending injury that prevents a student-athlete from meeting the requirements in criteria 1, 2, 3 or 4 (medical documentation may be needed) (Revoke) Participates on the varsity team, but is academically ineligible during any part of the season of competition (Revoke) Participates on the varsity team, but is suspended or disciplined by the CHS Administration Office, Activities Office and/or Volleyball Coaching Staff for a team/school disciplinary violation or Code of Conduct (Exception) Participates on the varsity team, as a full-time manager who must help for at least two years while adhering to the expectations of the position while attending practice and games (Exception) Participates on the varsity team, but in an extreme, life-changing situation is approved by the Head Coach even though the student-athlete does not meet two of the four requirements listed above (criteria 1, 2, 3 or 4)
