Doximity is now making earning CME credits easier than ever. Be awarded AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM by reading articles on clinical topics you’ve searched in DocNews. 2. When you select an eligible article, it will automatically be added to your CME Activity Log.
3. To complete the process, go to your CME Activity, select a Search Purpose and Practice Application for each clinical question searched, and click the “Submit Credits” button.
Note: In rare cases, there may be no articles eligible for CME for a specific clinical question. Why can I only find CME eligible articles through a search? Per American Medical Association requirements on internet pointofcare learning (PoC), articles must be found through a search relevant to your clinical practice to be eligible for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM. Wait, I really don’t have to take a survey at the end? You don’t need to take a survey after each activity. For each clinical search you’ll just need to select the search purpose and practice application. As an internet pointofcare (PoC) program, Doximity CME helps you earn credits for an activity you already do, while only asking for feedback on effectiveness once a year. When you search clinical questions through DocNews (made up of over 400 journal news feeds), earn CME while finding the answers you need. Finding Articles and Saving Searches: How do I find articles for CME? Go to the DocNews tab and enter the clinical topic of interest in the search bar. In the search results, you will see
indicating an article is eligible for CME.
Can I save a CMEeligible article to read later? Yes, you can save articles to read later. Go to the DocNews tab and search for the topic of interest. When you see an article you are interested that is eligible for CME (marked by click the star reading.

Why doesn’t CME show up automatically on my DocNews tab? On Doximity, to be awarded AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM from the Cleveland Clinic, you must search for the clinical question you are interested in. You can also save searches, and results for those searches will appear on your DocNews tab. How do I save searches for CME topics? Go to the DocNews tab and enter the clinical topic of interest in the search bar. After searching, you will see
on the right side of the search bar. To save, just click on
, and we will save your search terms. How often can I search for CME clinical questions? You can search for CME clinical questions as often as you wish. However, you cannot claim credit for the same search within 24 hours (eg. two articles found within 24 hours for “diabetes treatment”). You can claim credit for different articles if the search terms were different (eg. one was found through a search on “diabetes treatment” and another was found through a search on “diagnosing metabolic syndrome”). How come I can’t read journals I can access from my institution? To access journals through your institution, a DocNews proxy must be set up. 1. Go to your Settings menu and select “DocNews Proxy”. 2. Choose your institution from our list of recommended proxies OR 2. Specify a proxy of your choosing. (note: your proxy URL must end with an equal sign to be valid. eg. “http://ezproxy.stanford.edu/login?url=”) 3. Save your proxy information
Next time, you view an original article that requires the proxy, you will see the signin portal for your institution.
Once you log in once, there should be no need to log in again in the future. Setting up the proxy will allow you to view any articles you can view from within your institution. Managing CME Activity: How do I manage my CME activity? Go to your “Profile” page, and click the link to “My CME Activity” in the top right. Then, you can manage your CME through the Eligible Activity and Submitted Credits tabs. This includes CME earned in DocNews, as well as all of your uploaded CME from external sources.
What is the Eligible Activity tab? The Eligible Activity tab is where you can see all of the articles you’ve read that are available for
AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM. Your eligible credits are logged as you use DocNews, but they are not complete until you select the Search Purpose and Practice Application. Once submitted, credits are tracked in your Submitted Credits tab.
What is the Submitted Credits tab? The Submitted Credits tab is where you can see all of your submissions to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and associated AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM. You can view and print your CME certificates through DocNews.
How can I track CME earned outside of Doximity? The easiest way to track external CME is to email your certificates to
[email protected]. When we receive your certificate(s), we’ll upload the file and enter the details in the CME tracker for you. Your CME is typically visible in your account within 35 business days. You can also add external CME awarded by uploading the certificate to the CME Activity page. From the CME Activity page, click on the + Add CME Certificate link. Fill out the indicated fields, and click the save button.
How can I access certificates for CME? You can view your CME certificates from the Submitted Credits tab. Simply click the “view” link for the desired certificate.
Can I delete a CME certificate? Yes, you can delete an uploaded CME certificate by going to your Submitted Credits tab. Then, click into the Edit link for the desired certificate.
In the “Edit CME Certificate” screen, choose the delete option.
Currently, you cannot delete CME certificates earned through DocNews. If you need to delete an inaccurate certificate, please contact us at
[email protected]. How much CME credit can I earn through Cleveland Clinic on Doximity? There is no limit on the amount of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM you can claim. Each search that leads to an eligible article read is approved for .5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM. Note: If you are interested in AMA’s Physician Recognition Award, please see their limit on PoC activity here. What type of CME credit is available through Doximity? Currently, AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM may be awarded for eligible activities. What types of articles are valid for CME? Do they need to be peerreviewed articles? Articles eligible for CME will be marked with . These articles may come from various sources and do not necessarily need to be peerreviewed articles. I'm a DO. Does AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM still apply?
For osteopathic doctors, it is generally considered Category 2 credit depending on state. For the most up to date information, please refer to your state licensing board. in your search results.
