The data used in the production of this map has been assembled by a joint team composed of personnel from the World Resources Institute (WRI), the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife (MINFOF) and other partners, including: Centre Technique de la Foresterie Communale (CTFC), GTZ-PROPSFE. Alongside these, Projet RIGG and Tropical Forest Trust (TFT) also actively participated in the data validation process.
This map is produced by the WRI and MINFOF with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its Central Africa Regional Program for the Environment (CARPE).

Since 2002, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife of Cameroon (MINFOF) are working together to build national capacity to monitor and manage forests through the use of remote sensing and modern techniques of information management. The two principal objectives of this collaboration are: (1) To develop an integrated and easy to access forest information management system based on standardized methods; and (2) To train MINFOF and forest sector NGO staff in remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS) and database mangement, in order to effectively operate this data management system. Together, this information is assembled in the Interactive Forest Atlas of Cameroon. The first version of the Atlas was launched in February 2005 and has been continuously updated and expanded since that initial iteration, in order that it best serve the needs of forest managers. Within the framework of this collaboration, a complete cartographic database has been put in place; containing the different forest titles, protected areas and forest infrastructure of Cameroon. This map represents a snapshot in time of the Forest Estate's status in Cameroon, extracted from the Forest Atlas database.
