We want you to hit your senior year ready, with the college application process already in motion. For students who may need help prior to the beginning of the school year, our boot camp presents the opportunities to:
Complete the Common Application Dedicate time to fine-tuning the personal essay Organize all college application materials including application requirements, deadlines, and supplements Gain more information on financial aid and scholarship opportunities Meet with a college counselor individually
To register, complete the form below and send a $160 check, made payable to Calvert Hall College High School, by June 3, 2016. College Application Boot Camp Frequently Asked Questions
Who should attend this boot camp? This boot camp is for rising seniors who may want an opportunity to get a head start on their college application process. This session may be especially helpful for those with a busy fall schedule.
I have siblings/friends at another school and they want to come. Can they pay and attend? Calvert Hall students have registration priority, then their siblings. If spaces still remain, non-Calvert Hall students may register.
Where does the tuition money go? The tuition will pay college counselors, printing and office supplies, and snacks daily.
What is the Common Application (Common App)? The Common Application is an application that is accepted at over 600 colleges and universities in the United States and seven international schools. With one application, seniors can apply to multiple schools. All schools belonging to Common App may be found here: www.commonapp.org .
What is Naviance? Naviance is software used by most schools to send documents, like transcripts, electronically to colleges. There are also some college search features, most notably scattergrams, which enable students and their families to estimate college decision outcomes. Naviance and Common App work seamlessly together.
How can I prepare for College Application Boot Camp? During this program, students will begin the common application, fine tune their college essay, and meet individually with a college counselor. There will be assignments prior to camp beginning.
