Community Action Project FAQ April 18th All projects will be held on Saturday in Canterbury Gardens, Eureka Gardens, Southside Apartments, Washington Heights, Habitat Sites and various Schools. What kind of things will I do? You will divide into groups to work on tasks – either at Community Action Projects event throughout the community; e.g.: kids’ activities/games set up worship band’s clean up service projects canvasing sorting donations serving food prayer tent/circle and more! Can I choose the work I will do? Your work preferences will be accommodated as best as possible, but this cannot be guaranteed. Thank you for being flexible. What is the schedule of the day? Check-In is at 8:00a.m., turn in your signed release form and receive your free T-shirt if you haven’t already. Orientation & safety begins at 8:30a.m. all work ends by 8:00p.m. What if it rains that day? Rain or shine, we will serve the community as scheduled! Will you provide childcare services? No childcare will be provided. Children under 12 are not invited to participate in the projects. How can I register? Can I register on project day? Release forms will be available on-site for those who need them but signing up early makes planning and logistics so much easier! If you are under 18, you will need to have a signed parental consent form before you can begin work. What should I wear on project day? Dress appropriately! A CAP T-shirt will be given to each volunteer at Check-In. You may wear appropriate length shorts, jeans, closed-toe shoes, insect repellent, and plan for sun protection: hat or sunscreen. Bring a jacket if the weather is rainy or cool. What should I bring to the project? Bring your release form (available online) to turn in at check-in. Also, gloves, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, light snacks and bottled water will be available but we recommend that you also bring your own. What about food & water? We will provide a lunch and water will be provided. You may wish to bring additional snacks. Will I be safe? Everyone will hear a safety presentation and will always work in groups. Each site will have a project coordinator who will monitor safety. Police are aware of the projects and will provide extra patrols. First aid kit will be available on site. Will there be a safe place for valuables? Please leave valuables at home or lock them in your vehicle. Plan on interacting with others, including neighborhood residents; so leave your iPhone, iPods; MP3 players at home.
