Course Location: *NLPD - New Lenox Police Department Training Room 200 Veterans Parkway New Lenox, IL 60451 The CERT training program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and medical operations. The class culminates in a final full-scale exercise where students utilize their learned skills in a simulated disaster environment. Following the class exercise, a luncheon and graduation ceremony will be held. Students that successfully complete the course will receive a CERT backpack containing items needed for a disaster supply kit. There is no charge for the training but attendance at all sessions is required to complete the program. If a session is missed, it must be made up in a subsequent class offering with the approval of the Program Coordinator.
