Congratulations Captains! CONGRATULATIONS to you and your teammates on being your USTA 40 & Over Adult and Mixed League Local League Champion (or being the recipient of a wild card spot) and advancing to the USTA Mid-Atlantic Maryland Region 40 and Over Adult and Mixed League Championships. This is the next step on the road to becoming a Mid-Atlantic Sectional Champion. This year the 40 & Over Adult and Mixed League event is being held August 14-17, 2015 at two sites: Olney Manor Park, Silver Spring, Maryland and Wilde Lake Tennis Club, Columbia, Maryland. All team captains must complete the online registration form. NO teams may advance without enough players to fill all courts for every individual match. Registration is open. Click here to access the online registration form. Information that you will need handy include: Team Number, Region/Area. The deadline to submit the online registration form is August 4th. The Online Registration Form must be completed in order to participate.

GENERAL INFORMATION USTA League Tennis Regulations (January 2015) apply to this event. PENN is the official ball. Players are expected to wear proper tennis attire appropriate to this event. Captains - make sure that your players are at the correct rating level to field all 5 positions for Adult 40 & Over and 3 positions for Mixed 40 & Over. Captains – make sure that your players go to the correct tournament site.

TOURNAMENT RULES OF PLAY – ATTACHED YOU MUST BRING A FULL TEAM TO THIS CHAMPIONSHIP – A MINIMUM OF 8 PLAYERS FOR EACH MATCH for Adult 40 & Over and a MINIMUM OF 6 PLAYERS FOR EACH MATCH –Mixed 40 & Over. The tournament director will file a Grievance against your team for violation of the regulation. Your team may be subject to penalties which may be severe, up to and including every rostered player being banned from league play for the following year. RAIN PLAN - ATTACHED

CHAMPIONSHIP SITES We have secured courts at Olney Manor Park, Silver Spring, Maryland and Wilde Lake Tennis Club, Columbia, Maryland. See our website for directions to these facilities. There are no food facilities at Olney Manor Park. There will be no food prepared at Wilde Lake Tennis Club (hamburgers/hot dogs). There are food facilities within driving distance.

SCHEDULE The schedule will be posted to the Mid-Atlantic website as soon as possible. Please continue to check there. If it is not posted, it is not prepared. MATCH FORMAT Play for 2.5 consist of #1 singles and #1 and #2 doubles. Play for 3.0 – 4.5+ will consist of #1 and #2 singles, and #1, #2, #3 doubles. Play for Mixed 40 & Over consist of #1doubles, #2 doubles, #3 doubles. All matches shall be the best of two tiebreak sets, with REGULAR SCORING and the set tiebreak shall be used at 6-all in each set. In the event of split sets, a match tie-break shall be played to determine the match winner, with no rest period or coaching allowed. The Coman tie-break procedure shall be used. (Note: Tournament Director/Referee reserve the right to alter the order of play or to implement scoring systems at any time if necessary. For purposes of Rile 2.03C, a set-tie break shall count as both one set lost and one game lost. Please make sure changeovers and breaks as brief as possible. If needed, the USTA tie-break rules will be used to determine the champions. CHAMPIONS AND FINALIST First and second place teams will receive 12 USTA awards for Adult 40 & Over and 10 USTA awards for Mixed 40 & Over. Additional awards can be ordered, and we will provide you with an order form. Further, first and second place teams will have their pictures taken, which will be posted on our website. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE TOURNAMENT SITE UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR AWARDS AND HAD YOUR PICTURE TAKEN. I look forward to meeting everyone attending this year’s Regional Championships. If there is a change in your team’s commitment to this event, please notify your Local League Coordinator and League Manager immediately as the runner-up team will be offered the opportunity to compete.
