Ricky Tims’ Convergence Quilts Book Four coordinating 16-inch squares of fabric* Rotary cutter and mat Fabric marker or pencil Standard sewing needs, such as sewing machine, pins, seam ripper, etc.
*A note about choosing your fabrics: When deciding what fabrics you want to use, the sky is the limit! You can use four different fabrics (fat quarters are always great), two coordinating fabrics, or one vibrant tie-dyed or batik fabric for your squares. You can use a large-scale print, but the results will be best if you use only one large scale print complimented with either solids or smaller scale prints. Or you can use all solid fabrics. Convergence quilts have an element of surprise to them, so it’s a bit like making a mystery quilt. You won’t be sure of your finished quilt until you’ve got that top put together! Borders can enhance your convergence quilt, so if you’d like to bring in some border fabric choices, feel free to bring them along. Yardage requirements are not included here because there are too many variables in planning a border, such as whether you want one fabric, multiple fabrics, etc. You’ll be surprised how many border ideas you’ll have when you see your basic quilt put together. The convergence quilt lends itself to trying new things, so experimentation is welcome, and so much fun!
