Game Notes SUNY Canton enters tonight’s contest 1-2-1 on the season after picking up its first win against an NCAA Division III varsity program and the first win for Head Coach Trevor Gilligan. The Roos defeated host Fredonia State, 2-0, on November 8th. Morgan Barr turned aside all 34 shots he faced in the contest and the SUNY Canton power play unit went 2-for-6 with the skater advantage. Cory Giczewski got the scoring started for the Roos with 23 seconds left in the first period. Giczewski received a pass from Kristian Leach and flipped a shot off a defenseman as the puck trickled past Blue Devil goaltender Jeff Flagler as SUNY Canton made the best of their power play opportunity. It ended one extra skater chance, and a second began immediately following a slashing penalty on the Blue Devils just after the goal was scored. Dave Ferris and the power play unit regrouped as just 15 seconds later the Roos added a second marker to the scoreboard with just eight seconds remaining in the period. Ferris hit Fredonia State with a pinball shot through a screen and off a defenseman giving the Roos a 2-0 lead in a matter of seconds as SUNY Canton controlled the momentum heading into the first intermission. Saylor Preston and Vance Bridgman earned assists on the tally. Southern New Hampshire University enters tonight’s tilt 2-1-0 on the season after picking up back-to-back wins against Framingham State and Plymouth State. The Penmen have averaged five goals in their two wins while scoring just three times in their lone loss. SNHU is led by seven points apiece from sophomores Joe Collins and Jim Gabrione. The Roos and Penmen will play again on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
