CoroTap™ 100 -KM
Reliability and precision ”With the aim of developing a tapping tool that would make a difference in cast iron machining, CoroTap 100 -KM has been designed to stand out in terms of excellent results and process security. Equipped with the latest cutting edge technology, this reliable tap is here to master any type of cast iron materials and to make sure that the green light on your machine is always on.”
Håkan Persson Product Manager, Tapping tools Sandvik Coromant
A tap with exceptional skills New flute shape to produce small and thin chips
Five flutes to reduce the force on the cutting edge (M5-M24)
New grade D210 for improved wear resistance Improved surface finish to reduce friction Back chamfer improves threading capacity in deep holes
New radial coolant design for improved chip transportation and strenght
New grade The new grade D210 is a combination of powder steel substrate with high hardness and TiAlN with a post-treatment consisting of a multi-layer coating with a very smooth surface. This combination gives excellent wear resistance when dry or wet machining, including MQL.
Benefits •
Provides reliable and predictable tool life
•
Enables high cutting speed for increased productivity
•
Offers secure and cost-efficient production of threads in all cast iron materials
•
Generates thin and small chips which helps with easy chip evacuation
One tap for all ISO K materials CoroTap 100 -KM is your perfect companion for a trouble-free machining process, infused with reliability. This tap has also proven to be a tool with various talents. Due to its capacity to make thin and small chips, this is a perfect solution for solving chip issues in cast iron as well as in steel materials with a hardness between 150 and 190 HB.
Application •
Threading in GCI, NCI, CGI, and ADI
•
Threading in cast AI-Si alloys and soft steel 150–190 HB as chip solver in blind holes with axial coolant
•
Threading in both blind holes and through holes
•
M3–M24, ¼–⅞
•
Great performance with emulsion, MQL and also in dry machining
•
Suitable for all industrial segments where tapping in cast iron is needed
K ISO application area
“This tap is designed to resist the wear caused by graphite and other substances in cast iron materials. We have increased the number of flutes to reduce the force on each cutting edge. The new flute shape helps to produce really thin and small chips. A back chamfer is added to let the tap thread deeper, and the new grade with higher hardness makes the tap more wear resistant. The thread and chamfer relief is optimized to reduce the contact between the tap and the workpiece material. Ramzy Mousa Senior R&D Engineer Threading Tools, Sandvik Coromant
