Corpus Christi School Extended Day The Corpus Christi Extended Day Program provides high quality childcare in a loving, safe and Catholic environment. Under the supervision of Mrs. Stich, Mrs. Brandares and Mr. Baynard (CCE) and Mrs. Nande (ECC) are the directors of the Extended Day Program. Each campus has a dedicated staff. Students participate in a variety of activities including: outdoor/indoor games, arts and crafts, homework room, occasional movies, and holiday celebrations. Health and Safety Requirements Both facilities are inspected on a regular basis by the Fairfax County Fire Department and Health Department. The children also participate in monthly fire drills. All staff members have completed background checks and participate in classes and in-services on the latest trends in safety, health and education. Insurance The program is covered under the liability policy that covers the school.

Inclement Weather Policy Corpus Christi School follows Fairfax County School policy decisions on school closings, early closings and delayed openings.
In the event of inclement weather, parents should listen to local radio or TV stations for Fairfax County School announcements concerning school closings, early closings and late openings. WTOP news is available at 103.5 FM, 103.9 FM, 107.7 FM, and www.wtop.com. Our school messenger system will also notify you of a school closing during school hours. Please provide the school with your current email address and telephone numbers.

School and extended day will be closed.
School opens two hours late
The announcement will be made by 6:00 a.m. School will open at 10:00 a.m. Extended day opens at 9:00 a.m. School closes at 3:25 p.m. The announcement will be made by 10:00 a.m. School will close 1:30 p.m. If it is an early dismissal day, school will close at the scheduled early dismissal time.

Extended Day will close one hour after the school closing (4:30 p.m.). For the safety of the students, parents and staff the school strongly encourages parents to pick-up students as soon as it is safely possible.
Sign in and Out Procedures Elementary Campus
Students attending Extended Day in the morning must be accompanied by a parent/guardian to the Extended Day Room. No students are allowed in the building before 7:00 a.m. Any student found on the playground before 7:45 a.m. will be taken to the Extended Day room and will be signed into Extended Day and parents charged accordingly. Students using the program in the afternoon will be signed in by a staff member. When departing Extended Day, a parent must sign out his/her student. Student(s) not picked up at the Elementary Campus by 3:30 p.m., will be sent to Extended Day and charged the coupon rate.
Early Childhood Campus At the ECC children must be picked up by 12:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. or they will be brought to Extended Day. All parents must sign their child in/out on the list in room 6.
Late Pick Up If a child has not been picked up from Extended Day by 6:00 p.m. and the school has not been notified as to why the parent is late, the following procedure applies: Parents will be called at home/work Emergency contacts will be called Late pick up, after 6:00 p.m., will be charged at $1.00 per minute. Although notification by phone is appreciated, a late pick up fee will still be charged. Three late fees within a school year may result in dismissal from the Extended Day program. If the child remains in Extended Day until 7:00 p.m., Fairfax County Child Protective Services will be called. Snack A daily snack and milk are provided which adhere to USDA guidelines. Lunch Elementary Campus Although milk is provided on early dismissal days, please remember to pack a lunch for your child. Label the lunch box with your child’s name and date. Early Childhood Center On early dismissal days, please pack a lunch for your child unless other arrangements have been made with Mrs. Nande for hot lunch. Please remember we are a nut-free facility and please label all bags with your child’s name and date. Fees and Charges A $25 registration fee must accompany your Extended Day registration. A registration fee will be charged after the second emergency use of Extended Day. Payments will be made monthly through your FACTS account. The extended day tuition plan you sign up for will be automatically deducted from your account. Families who use extended day on a drop in basis must purchase coupons from either the Finance Office or the ECC office before the student uses extended day. If a child is picked up after 6:00 p.m. there will be a charge of $1.00 per minute per child, which will be entered into your fax account.
School Holiday Closings When the school is closed for holidays, Extended Day is also closed. On teacher work-days, when school is not in session, Extended Day is open at the Early Childhood Center for anyone who needs it. Parents may choose the yearly charge for early dismissal teacher workdays at the bottom of the registration form. Sign-up forms will be posted on the www.homeworknow.com site for Extended Day on early dismissal/teacher workdays. Christmas and Easter camps are offered during school breaks to anyone who needs the services for ages 3 – 13. If you are part of the five day a week Extended Day plan, the Christmas and Easter camps are included in the cost. Families who are not part of the five day a week Extended Day plan will be charged the regular camp rate. DISCIPLINE POLICY Since the Extended Day program is an extension of the normal school day, students will follow all school rules. If they do not follow the rules, then there will be the following consequences:
At the first offense, student will receive verbal warnings. If behavior does not improve, then demerits may be given to students in grades 4 to 8. If outside, younger students may have a short period of time out. The director should be notified immediately if a student continues to demonstrate inappropriate behavior and he/she will speak to the student. If behavior still does not improve, then the parents will be given a formal call, letter or conference with the director. The director will also notify the Principal or Assistant Principal if inappropriate behavior continues. If an incident is serious, an Incident Report will be filled out, given to the parents, and put in the student’s file indicating the action taken. After three serious incidents, the student will be dismissed from the Extended Day program. Depending on the seriousness and magnitude of the incident, the student may be dismissed from the Extended Day program immediately with the approval of the Principal.
