Course Introduction This course will review the methods supply chain personnel need to utilize to effectively perform audits of metalcasting facilities. Topics covered will include: an overview of the audit process; determining audit requirements; developing and preparing to perform an audit; and closing the audit loop. Held at a casting supplier, participants will spend the better part of the second class day auditing several different areas of the foundry as part of this interactive and hands-on course. This course is only open to employees from companies who design and/or purchase metalcastings, and class size is limited to 20 participants. Benefits to Taking the Course: Participants will leave with increased knowledge of metalcasting terminology, and more importantly, will be able to develop and conduct effective audits tailored for their casting supplier. Learning Outcomes At the end of this course, participants should be able to: 1. Identify major factors affecting casting supplier auditing, including management, sales, training, production, maintenance, quality checks, and shipping. 2. Perform audits within the metalcasting industry, showing aptitude of processes in both the office and shop floor areas of a casting supplier. Instructional Methods: Discussions Case studies Hands-on exercises Mock audit of select casting supplier departments, with actual findings at end of audit Assessment Methods: No formal assessment will take place in this course; however, attendees will participate in informal activities such as knowledge check and Q&A sessions with the facilitator to verify that learning outcomes are being met. Assessment of successful achievement of learning outcomes must be included throughout the course in order to meet the ANSI/IACET 1-2013 standard for continuing education programs and for CEUs to be awarded. Course Prerequisites: Prior to taking this course, participants should know: General metalcasting industry terms and processes Expectations of quality within the metalcasting industry Internal requirements for casting suppliers, per OEM written standards Audit tools and methods Background knowledge on ISO 9001 requirements Attendee Requirements to Earn CEUs: 1. Present at least 10.5 hours of the total 12 hours of instructional time (90%), which does not include meals or breaks. 2. Active participation (can include asking questions, communicating with other attendees during and taking part in group activities, providing responses during whole class or group discussions). 3.
