ADVANCED SERGER CLUB 2016—Oct/Nov----CREATING A SWEATSHIRT JACET WITH DECORATIVE THREADS AND TECHNIQUES This class addresses the decorative effects of the serger combined with the sewing machine and it will be a 2-part class. In the October class, we will practice numerous decorative stitches that may be obtained with the serger: chainstitch, decorative coverstitch, making cording with both the serger and a cording/rope tool, flatlocking with a twist (over lace, fusible interfacing, piping, as edges to trims, etc), rolled edges, and others. The first part of the class will focus on how to do these techniques using cottons and sweatshirt material. We will combine these techniques with some from the sewing machine also. Then, each student will decide how much or how little to embellish their individual jacket. In the second class, we will put the jacket back together and decide some of the finishing techniques. The jacket may be finished with a traditional binding with embellishment (optional) and the closing will be a choice (leaving the fronts open, inserting a separating zipper, button types, and making buttons with the serger). The supplies may be pieces of items from your stash approximately 18” or longer for practice. Supplies:   
