The D291 series detector bases are used with the Bosch D9124 Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP) as a replacement item for the D290 Series Addressable Detector Bases. The D291 series bases are fully compatible with any D290 addressable application and can mix with D290 Series Bases in an existing system. They are an ideal application for systems that are upgraded to increase address point capacity. They are compatible with a number of Bosch smoke and heat detector heads.
The D291M offers connections for a supervised 24 VDC slave circuit containing up to 19 D250 detector bases. The 24 VDC power circuit wires can run in the same conduit as the Zonex expansion circuit. When so configured, the D291M and the devices in its slave circuit report alarm, trouble, and restoral conditions to the control panel as a single point address.
The D291 bases are wired in the Zonex expansion circuit. Each device (or device and slave circuit) has a specific point address, which is set using the DIP switch on the device. The point address is independent of the device location in the wiring. When so configured, these devices report alarm, trouble, and restoral conditions to the FACP over the Zonex bus. Removing the detector head from the base for cleaning or service initiates a trouble signal but does not interrupt the polling circuit.
Certifications and Approvals
Both the D291S and the D291M can use a D299 Relay Module to provide a pair of relay points for Form C dry contact applications.

Mounting The D291M and D291S bases mount directly on single‑gang switch boxes or on four‑inch octagonal back boxes. They can mount on four‑inch square boxes with an adaptor plate. Wiring Wiring connections are accessible with the base mounted on the back box. Two separate wiring circuits connect the D291 series detector bases with the FACP. A supervised UL‑listed power supply provides 24 VDC on one circuit, and a data expansion loop allows the FACP to poll each address point on the other circuit. Polling occurs every 150 ms to 300 ms.
