Sermon Study Guide “Standing In Kingdom Authority” March 22-23, 2014 For individual, family or group study

Icebreaker What have you been learning about prayer during this 40 Day Prayer Journey?

Memory Verse “The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.” Psalm 103:19 

Q&A Are there any answers to your “circled” prayer concerns where you’ve seen God at work? Explain.

Read Out Loud (Matthew 6:9-10) 1. 2.

Why do you think Jesus asked all of His followers to prayer God’s kingdom to come to earth? What do you think He knew about their authority? What do you think happens to the power of the prayers of His believers when they are praying in alignment with God’s will?

Talk It Over

In Pastor Cal’s message, he spoke about our Kingdom Authority. We have the authority to bless others, to bind evil powers, to bring healing to others and to offer “good news”. (refer to Matthew 28:31)  How do you exercise your authority in these matters?  In which of these areas are you hesitant to use your authority? Why?

Work It Out Now let’s get quiet, pray and listen for God’s still, small voice.  Ask God to tell you where in your life (home, work, school, marriage, family, friends, etc.) things are outside of his will or alignment.  Ask God to further reveal His will for that area of your life. Also ask him how to pray in His Kingdom into that area. Write down the first thing that comes to mind.

In your group, pray God’s perfect will with divine authority over each other’s life.

Pray It Through Father God, Help me to pray bold prayers for your kingdom. Help me to remember who I am in YOU. I am a child of the living God with the authority of Christ. I proclaim your will being done right here and right now in every part of my life just as it’s done in heaven. In Jesus Name, Amen

Personal Challenge

“Proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness and without hindrance.” Acts 28:31 Now that you know more about exercising your authority in prayer, proclaim boldly God’s Kingdom into your prayer concerns every day this week.

Northwoods Prayer Opportunities We believe there is power in prayer and comfort in knowing that our God is actively listening and answering. Our mission is to encounter God regularly with vibrant personal and corporate prayer lives, to provide hurting people a point of contact with God’s love and Kingdom power through prayer ministry, and to cultivate a heart of prayer within Northwoods Community Church as we watch and pray over our church and our community. Visit nwoods.org/prayer for more info.

Altar Prayer At the conclusion of each service, members of our prayer team are available at the front of the auditorium to offer prayer and ministry to those who need encouragement, hope, healing, help to get through the pain of current circumstances, or who have been impacted by that weekend’s message in some way. Everyone is welcome.

Blessing Prayer End the 40 Day Prayer Adventure with a blessing on April 12th. This is an opportunity for you to let others listen to God for a special blessing and word of encouragement for you. Our team will not ask for your list of prayer requests, but rather, trust the Lord to lead them in sharing a rich spirit filled time of prayer. You may come as an individual, or schedule a time for your entire family or other group to come together. Blessing Prayers are 30 minutes long.

Healing Prayer We all have seasons in our lives when our hearts are heavy with the need for a spiritual, physical, or emotional breakthrough for ourselves or someone we love. We invite you to make an appointment where two or more members of our prayer team will minister to you and/or your loved one in an environment without judgment that is full of grace and power.
